Emerald Toucanet
One of my favorite birds of Costa Rica. Not the best shot, but just happy to see and photograph one! It was like seeing my first Painting Bunting at Corkscrew Swamp in Florida - the similarity being they are both amazing birds on the covers of field guides.- ecodave

Riverside Wren
This lovely wren came right to me as I sat in the shade at the small pool at the Lookout Inn. Does this qualify as nesting, thus making it a no-no picture? Beautiful singer!- ecodave

Chestnut-mandibled Toucan
Seeing the Chestnut-mandibilled Toucan in the wild for the first time is fantastic and surreal. Such a striking bird. This one was feeding with another along the coast of the Osa Peninsula near Carate.- ecodave

Scarlet Macaws of Carate, Costa Rica
These two endangered Scarlet Macaws were in the air over Carate, Costa Rica. We saw as many as 22 in the air at once while visiting the humid rainforests of the Osa Peninsula.- ecodave

Tiger Heron, Damas, Costa Rica
