Rhea or deer? Trainline Downham to Cambridge.

Hi You regularly see Roe Deer sat down out in the Fens. The train from Thetford to Ely (and onto Peterborough) usually produces a few on each trip. In my experience, Chinese Water Deer are scarce in these parts (not seen one from the train). Cheers Dawn

A few hours in King's Lynn

Mat I suspect a walk along the riverside is your best bet given the time you have and luggage. There's not many places closeby without getting a taxi and more time (eg Roydon Common good at that time of year). Can't promise much of note in the middle at this time of year. Always worth checking...

Separate query: does anyone know whether Blackborough End Tip is operational at weekends? James Blackborough End Tip is strictly private. There is no access to view the tip without trespassing on Middleton Aggregates land. Some individuals have permission to stand on Middleton Aggregate land...

Hi Just to back up James Emerson and to encourage anyone lucky enough to see a Honey Buzzard to submit the record and description to the Norfolk County Recorder. It's so important that these records are documented for the future. Records from the Norfolk Recorders feed into the Rare Breeding...

Nightjar - there are a few in but it's still quite early for them. I've not been out looking for any, so wouldn't want to recommend any spots in the Brecks. In a few weeks time, you'll be able to find them in most clear-fell areas in the Brecks. Towards the coast - Dersingham Bog might be your...

    Northeast Aberdeen and Donmouth

Hi Any advice on trying to see White-billed Divers off Portsoy. Appreciate they are usually well offshore. Any particular place to try to view from and any tide conditions better than others? Many thanks Dawn

Brilliant record of Ravens. It's a county description species :-) Most of us who live in the Brecks still haven't seen this species locally. My only encounter was 2 over West Stow Country Park in August 2009-ish (during the Atlas fieldwork years). Thanks for sharing, we'll keep our eyes open. Dawn

Hi, I've whizzed along the A11 northbound several times and haven't spotted any pull-off at the spot birders used to access Ollie's Farm. It's dual-carriageway now and I doubt very much there is access. You can of course (and always have been able to) enter the general area from the tracks that...

We watched the Glaucous Gull fly in yesterday at Snettisham. It landed about 20m from the dead seal and stood there for about 30 mins, before plucking up courage to walk a bit closer and then fly upto the seal. It then gorged itself, always wary. We walked out of the Rotary Hide whilst it was...
