deciding between 8x32 Explorer, Traveller, and Verano

Viking/RSPB and Canon binoculars also score highly on ethical grounds and might be worthy of consideration. I would recommend you trying out models if you can.

Kowa 55A or Swarovski ATC ??

Official stats for ER 17mm Kowa and 20mm Swarovski. I've tried them both inside a shop and optically I couldn't split them. The Kowa star tested slightly better than the Swarovski bit it didn't seem to make a difference to the image quality of both which was too close to call. As usual it would...

Kite APC 60 17-35x WA stabilised spotting scope

Good find. It looks to me like the 25-50 zoom from the SP80 spotter is removed and put on this new scope so it would be similar field of view.

Updated Nikon 10x25S and 12x25S Stabilized binoculars

I think the target audience to a large extent is the k-pop generation. In a lot of the youtube video reviews on IS binoculars it is young asian woman who are making them. They need something compact that will fit in a handbag or large pocket. They don't want the IS to shut down after 10 minutes...

    Potential purchase for a newbie

Hi Jo, don't touch that screw! It guides the zoom mechanism up and down the groove you see in your picture. I'll try and find a video that shows the zoom in action. The rubber collar above the magnification numbers twists once the zoom is attached to the scope body and that adjusts the...

    Potential purchase for a newbie

I think this would fit the bill nicely. Try and find somewhere you can try it out. Viking Optical and Hawke do similar phone adapters that work well. https://www.uttings.co.uk/p144206-opticron-mm4-77-ga-vhd-angled-spotting-scope-with-sdlv4-18-54x-eyepiece-41387/

Baader MkIV zoom to Opticron MM4 77 VHD scope adapter?

The recent Opticron scope upgrade has me wondering if my Baader Hyperion zoom MkIV can be adapted to work on it. I found an old thread 41.5 mm adapter for Baader Hyperion Zoom MKiv but it's not clear to me if an adapter could be made to fit the Opticron thread and reach focus (and if there is...

    Nikon (Premier?) 8x42 replaced

Hi GB, I have the 8x32hg and was told the hinge is tightened at the focus wheel control end. I sent mine in to Nikon UK under warranty. Like you I had a look under the hinge cover. I couldn't shift anything so rather than risking damage I let the pros do the adjusting.

Updated Nikon 10x25S and 12x25S Stabilized binoculars

Do the objectives focus externally on the original 10x25's like for eg the Canon 10x30 IS binoculars?

Updated Nikon 10x25S and 12x25S Stabilized binoculars

First promo video up. They certainly pique my interest though I would love to see an 8x25 or better still some models to compete with Canon's range.

    Fixing Rubber Eyecups back on

The Minsmere staff recommend putting some superglue on a piece of card/plastic and using a pencil head to then put some glue on the bare plastic eyecup bit (twisted out), avoiding getting too near the adjustable slots. Then carefully put the rubber eyecup on.
