    Great Tits fledged.

Our robin fledgling is fairly independent now - we know because it flew into our greenhouse yesterday! This is on our allotment. Parents may be feeding it but they are not close to the nest. I would just wait and see what happens.

    Otter at Brandon Marsh

A fabulous sighting yesterday. I think it was a male, simply due to size and bark - someone more knowledgeable may help? I heard it first crashing through the reeds, my initial thought was “ Damn those mallards”, but no! Out came the otter which fished for about 5 minutes :)

    Any help with ID please?

John is correct. I am mistaken on the male vs female identification. You learn something new every day - as the saying goes :) Those I have been identifying as female are non-breeding birds!

Great Tit Chicks in Trouble: How Can We Help?

I am afraid you will have to let nature take its course! Remember the world would become over run with some critters if they all survived infancy. Harsh, but small birds have many young, second broods etc. because so few make it to adulthood!
