    SLC 8x42 vs EL SV 8.5x42

    Oooops, I did it! I purchased the EL 8.5x42. No real experience yet, but looking forward to testing it soon. Both NL and SLC are very difficult to find, but that was not the main reason. I see the EL as a compromise, but at the same time I'm not expecting too many sacrifices. To be continued.

    Interesting - thanks! How about eye relief? I'm looking for an alpha with large FOV and long ER. At least on paper Noctivid 8x42 sounds like a competent contender. How does Noctivid + glasses work in practice?

    Thanks! The problem with binos is specs vs. reality. I can check e.g. eye relief on paper, but it’s very difficult to make real-life tests. I tried NL and EL side by side at the retailer and it certainly gave an idea, but only a very shallow idea. SLC I haven’t seen, so don’t know what I’ve...
