    New Retrovid 7x35

Looks like you're quite happy to see us! Anyway... don't you think that the Ultravid HD+ 8x32 can easily fit your pocket as well as, or better than, the 7x35 Retro?

Ultravid UVHD Plus 8x32 or 10x32?

Excellent. And you are very welcome. You've got an exceptionally fine pair of binoculars there, to enjoy for the rest of your life!

Is the 8x32 Victory SF really worth almost 2.5x the cost of the 8x32 Conquest HD?

In eight years of using Conquest HD 8x32 and 10x42, I don't understand the issue you had with "hard to keep in focus"? They've been superb to use, in my experience.

Is the 8x32 Victory SF really worth almost 2.5x the cost of the 8x32 Conquest HD?

From your photos, no, it doesn't look like much of a stretch at all to reach the focuser. For your wife, even. And I agree on the term "open bridge". It seems to me that open bridge would be the term applied to a single bridge. Single bridge and double bridge apply much more sensibly to the...

Is the 8x32 Victory SF really worth almost 2.5x the cost of the 8x32 Conquest HD?

Zeiss positioned the focuser on the SFs in a very smart place. And, it's one of the most wonderful-to-use focusers possible, in the world of fine binoculars. I, too, would hope that Leica positions their focusers farther from the ocular eyepieces, in future Noctivid offerings.

    8x32 UVHD+ vs 7x35 Retrovid

Yes... and at present I (am blessed to?) have more binoculars than I can make thorough use of. I do use binoculars numerous times every day, typically 8x32 UVHD+ and 10x32 SF, and I pickup my 10x42 SF a few times a day while looking out at the vista and wildlife around my house just off of my...

Is the 8x32 Victory SF really worth almost 2.5x the cost of the 8x32 Conquest HD?

Noctivid 8x32s and 10x32s would be sweet, indeed. My 42s (very nice as they are!) don't get nearly the grab up and use that my 32s get. I could happily live with just 32s, if need be - they're that good.

Is the 8x32 Victory SF really worth almost 2.5x the cost of the 8x32 Conquest HD?

I don't notice any CA with my three Ultravids, nor with my three SFs.

    8x32 UVHD+ vs 7x35 Retrovid

I quite appreciate my UVHD+ 7x42. Stable image in the hands, deep depth of focus, somewhat compact, superb build quality and they have that Leica "look" in contrast, color quality, and sharp resolution that so many of us deeply appreciate. ("Delicious", ;).) I truly do not need ANY more...

This isn't in Traveller 8x32's Specification

I agree... Traveler is nice and a strong contender at its price point. As you say, for a modest price "knock around" that isn't your primary/everyday use binocular, I think Traveler is a good choice. They did present some glare issues, for me, which are not present with the Conquest HDs. But...

This isn't in Traveller 8x32's Specification

The Traveler 8x32 is nice, but the Conquest HD 8x32 is fantastic... and well worth the extra money, in my view. I've had the Conquest HD 8x32 for about 8-9 years, and recently tried the Traveler 8x32 for a short while, before returning them (glare was a bit of an issue for me with the...

New Zeiss binos 8x40 SFL and 10x40 SFL

Thanks for that detailed account, HenRun. From the sounds of it, Zeiss was very successful in creating a very worthy contender to step up to from the Conquest HD - and possibly even a strong competitor to SF, NL, and UVHD+. At the price point of $1800 USD, I think it may very well snag a lot...

    Leica 10x42 ultravid

Fantastic! Good to know that their customer service is equal to the awesome, very fine quality of their binoculars. My three pair of Ultravid HD+ (8x32, 10x32, 7x42) are my most loved bins, which also includes three pair of SFs (8x32, 10x32, 10x42) and two pair of Conquest HDs (8x32 and 10x42).

New Zeiss binos 8x40 SFL and 10x40 SFL

pm42... thanks for your effort in making those images. Photographing through a binocular is a very challenging process... if one hopes to achieve highly significant results. As a retired commercial photographer (I have the excellent Zuiko 60mm macro lens, myself, for my micro4/3 system - great...

New Zeiss binos 8x40 SFL and 10x40 SFL

Very nice to hear that the "view" is Leica-like! (Contrast, color quality). And about the build quality. The size looks great, too. Personally, the slightly fuller barrel diameter (vs. NL and SF 8x32) suits my preference, as well. They look quite akin to Conquest HD 8x32, as far as form...

The new ZEISS SFL Binoculars. Maximum Image Quality. Minimum Weight.

The Conquest HD 8x32 are not especially crisp at the very edges... but whether that is key to someone's enjoyment of the bins is the crux. I see no glare issues whatsoever, and have never noticed any CA with these bins. They're just a simple pleasure to use. Honestly, having sharp, crisp edges...

The new ZEISS SFL Binoculars. Maximum Image Quality. Minimum Weight.

The Conquest HD 8x32 is, in my view, a basic staple binocular, regardless of whatever else one might have. Eight years forming that opinion, along with ownership of numerous samples of today's top alphas, available to the world. Yes, it's just that good and SO sensibly priced.

New Zeiss binos 8x40 SFL and 10x40 SFL

Eyecups, eyecups, eyecups. Unfortunate that some folks seem to find eyecups to be so difficult for them. Eight years of using two pairs of Conquest HD (8x32 and 10x42) and around a year of also using three pair of SF and three pair of Ultravid HD+ and I haven't a spec of complaint about ANY...

The new ZEISS SFL Binoculars. Maximum Image Quality. Minimum Weight.

If Conquest HD is the best binocular an individual owns, they're not missing out on a thing. They're simply great binoculars and priced sensibly around $1000. Spending $2700 for SF or $2900 for NL doesn't really make a lot of sense as far as utility of use is concerned, but if the expense is...

The new ZEISS SFL Binoculars. Maximum Image Quality. Minimum Weight.

I spent a good bit of time owning the NL 10x32. I spent over a week carefully comparing them to the UVHD+ and SF competitors. My conclusion was that while I loved the optics with the NL, I much preferred the haptics, fuller-barrel shape, armor stiction given by Zeiss and Leica. The Leica and...

The new ZEISS SFL Binoculars. Maximum Image Quality. Minimum Weight.

Hi Paul... don't let "popularity contests" sway you. (The 'popular choice' among options is not infrequently a somewhat less-than-desirable position to take). Be your own guide to the universe! ;) (I have a hunch that you already are.) I'd say, given your comparatively, uh hmmm...

New Zeiss binos 8x40 SFL and 10x40 SFL

These are all very illustrative comparisons, Bryan. Thanks so much for doing so. And... if you feel motivated to include some other bins for comparison... Swaro and Leica in particular... I look forward to seeing those too! I have to say... I think Zeiss is going to do very well with these...

New Zeiss binos 8x40 SFL and 10x40 SFL

Also... isn't it quite nice that Zeiss actually selected a genuine 'birder' and binocular enthusiast to be featured in the brochure, rather than just hiring a typical model from an agency. Few in the general public would ever even know that! It's very nice to know that Zeiss did just that!

She looks like she would be a wonderful girlfriend - and strikingly attractive. How cool that this is such a small 'binocular' world we live in. Yes, please, pass my compliments along to her.
