    Hummingbird feeder parts

I doubt you can buy parts. However, I also doubt the hummers care if it has yellow petals. Try it without the petals.

Eastern Phoebe backyard friend ..follows me and jealous

Back in the fall I had a phoebe that was very friendly and watched me trim bushes from a distance of about four feet. He darted off to the edge of my porch and caught a bug and flew back to his perch and seemed to be displaying the bug to me.

Please answer questions I have about my Chimney Swifts - 1st time nest!

In a former house I owned with a chimney I had swifts one year and enjoyed their noise. However, at the end of the season, I decided to clean the chimney and ledge above the fire place. I found an immature chick that had apparently fallen from the nest and died. I put a screen on the chimney.

    Replacement feeder base

I would take the feeder to a store that sells a variety of feeders, such as Wild Birds Unlimited , Lowes, Home Depot or WalMart and see if any of the bases are similar. Buy the one that fits.

    abandoned hummingbird nest (thoughts?)

Any evidence of ants around the nest? In the South we have fire ants and I have heard they will kill baby birds.

    Great Horned Owl visit.

I had a similar encounter with a Barred Owl. Walking down a trail, saw something in a tree beside the trail, about 8 feet off the ground. From the distance, I thought it may be a hornet nest. As I got closer, it turned out to be a Barred Owl. I walked on and turned my head to watch as we passed...

    Growth on Hummer's Beak

I had a ruby throat about a week ago with a tiny growth near the tip of the bill, approx. 1/8 inch dia. and about 1/4 inch from the tip. She only fed at the feeders with an opening large enough to accommodate her. I haven't seen her this week, I presume she is heading South.

Do your crows 'wash' their food?

I agree, hard crusty bread needs softening up a bit.

Do your crows 'wash' their food?

Again, similar experience. When I was a kid I also tried to hunt crows and I never got close enough to even try. I enjoy crows and I enjoy hearing their different vocabulary, especially when they are in a family setting.
