    Corsican Gen Request

Nothing really to add, plenty of good advice already. I saw the nuthatch at Bavella and Col de Vergio / Aitone. The warblers I saw mostly in Macquis close to the coast, same for the Finch. Nice place to live and bird :) I'm just back from a family holiday at Cap Corse. Only casual birding, but...

NL Pure 8x32 and NL Pure 10x32!

My inital comment was because I was a bit amused by Gijs' apparent conclusion that NL's must be good because people in nature docus on TV have them. Of course I have no proof that all these TV-people are outfitted by Swaro's marketing department (not even knowing which people and TV shows Gijs...

NL Pure 8x32 and NL Pure 10x32!

Not much conspiracy but standard marketing practice... Not just TV personalities, but also for example bird tour guides are regularely outfitted by Swaro and other brands.

NL Pure 8x32 and NL Pure 10x32!

Well, those people on TV are certainly outfitted by Swarovski. That proves that Swaro s marking is good, if anything...

    New Swarovski 7x Binocular

Despite all the boast about design, I think that the Leica Ultravid is still the most elegant and well designed compact, by far. However, 7x21 sounds like it could be a real improvement in useability compared to 8x20.

    It’s May!—has anybody bought/tried out a NL Pure 32 yet?

Makes perfect sense, many thanks! And congrats to haveing a chalet with such a view! Nice birding area too! I'm still trying to see Hazel Grouse in Switzerland and sometimes thought about trying this area.

    It’s May!—has anybody bought/tried out a NL Pure 32 yet?

Hi Canip, excellent review as usual. And nice place to test binoculars, must be around Beatenberg? For those who don't know Switzerland: the gorgeous mountains are the famous triple Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The side to side view with the SF is interesting and shows how similar both are...

Zeiss SF 8x32 vs Swarovski SV 8x32

Remarkably, Dennis always stays nice and polite, despite recieving a lot of harsh words. Can't remember any angry reply or personal attacks from him. There are certainly worse trolls than him.

New Product Introduction Today From Swarovski ?

Well, Swaro's NL42 are the answer to Zeiss SF42, which came out 5 years ago. If there would be a NL32 ready to be launched this year, it would have been announced now as well, before the SF32 becomes available. It will take some more time, but probably not another 5 years. The Zeiss SF32...

    Olympus up for sale

I used to do digiscoping, first with compact cameras and later with the phone. Since I have a Panasonic G9 with the 100-400 lens, this has become obsolete for me. The reach of the m43 set-up is as good as the phone-digiscoping and the set-up is suffiently compact that I can take it along without...

Swarovski - odd business policy - near point

I'm seriously considering buying a Zeiss SF 8x32, I will do once I had one in hands and it is really as good as I hope for. If Swaro has a wide angle NL32 in the make, they better announce it soon. If they don't I'll assume it's still some years away and will not wait for that.

Indeed, it seems Swarovski thinks that those caring for close focus are the ones with the big pockets.

Swarovski - odd business policy - near point

I was wondering why all those hunters don't actually care about close focus. I was somehow expecting that hunters also take an interest in nature in general and in small animals nearby that can't be shot dead, but maybe not?

Swarovski - odd business policy - near point

Well, I think the fuss is about taking away a feature that was already there. As I just wrote, I think a close focus is a definite advange. Not the most important one, but having a good close focus makes a bin just a bit more of an allrounder. I don't think its a pertinent argument to say...

Swarovski - odd business policy - near point

I use a Ultravid, which has about 3 m close focus. I mostly look at birds, but there is often enough sth interesting close by, insects, flowers, reptiles etc. I discover these close stuff while walking and want to take a closer look. It frequently happens that I need to take some steps back to...
