Replacement eye cups for HGL 8x32🤔

Nikon UK parts department. I actually have the original HG with the shinier rubber armour and cups, but the new ones supplied were of the matt fluff attracting type matching the HGL armour.

Variations from binocular to binocular, same model

Also individual barrels may vary in resolution and depending on your dominant eye one pair of may binoculars be acceptable and another pair not. Seemingly most reviewers just give an impression of the aggregate view. I remember years ago trying every sample budget porro binocular in stock on a...

    Advice on IS binoculars.

Although these don't get a great write up on The Pinac Collection, for £269.99 they seem a bargain. https://www.lcegroup.co.uk/New/kenko-vc-smart-10x30-image-stabilised_102421.html They seem to have the same IS system as the Opticron 10x30 IS binoculars and share a similar shape albeit with a...

    Poor Kowa service

No worries. I happened to bump into a birding acquaintance who'd got water into his eyepiece after crawling out of a marsh on his front and he mentioned where he'd taken it in. It's all sorted now.

Canon 10x42 L IS cover scraping away - advice?

Here's my admittedly 10+ year old Nikon HG lug. Inspired by your post I noticed a similar situation. In my case I haven't done anything and it hasn't been a problem.

    Nikon HGs

Yes I agree. I'm still using my 8x32s, never let me down and only ever needed to have the hinge tightened while it was still in warranty. Oh yes the original rainguard broke in the middle and I put new rubber eyecups on them.

    Poor Kowa service

Kowa repairs are now handled by Viking Optical in Halesworth, Suffolk. I'm confident they will be able to sort this out if you contact them directly either phone or email.

UK binocular deals, special offers and bargains

LCE have the Kenco 10x30 IS binocular at £269.99. The cheapest new IS binocular in the UK? https://www.lcegroup.co.uk/New/kenko-vc-smart-10x30-image-stabilised_102421.html Maybe a Mark II model is in the way or LCE are trying to shift stock.

    Monarch M7+ 8x30

I had a chance to try these out briefly indoors at my local RSPB reserve and I have to say I was impressed. I'm not easily impressed. I liked the bright wide field with a large "sweet spot". CA was well corrected and I tested for flare against a low sun and found it very well suppressed. I...

Best compromise for a pair of Woodland binoculars ideally 7x ?

Hi Richard, an additional suggestion would be the 6.5x32 RSPB HD binoculars. Not quite 7x power I know but a very good performer for the money (£379). It focusses clockwise to infinity has a 10 year warranty and is serviced if necessary by Viking Optical. RSPB HD Binoculars 8 x 32 - RSPB Shop...

    Best IS binocular?

No doubt the optics and stabilization are superb but the focussing speed has been described as glacial so for all round birding including woodlands maybe some of the other canons are better. I don't know about the newish 10x32 but certainly the 10x30 is meant to be faster but then the close...

Any customer review of new tsn-99?

I got the chance to very briefly do an artificial star test on a 99A too recently and also found a lot of spherical aberration. The rings on one side were ok but the other side were indiscernible. This was done in a shop so the distance to the target may have been borderline acceptable but I...

Nikon HG L 8x32 vs EL 8x32 SV
