Discount camera websites and resale sites?

Add another vote for mpb.com. I've ordered four items (two bodies and two lenses) from them over the years with nothing but good results. I've had to return one item because it wasn't what I thought it was but that was my fault and they didn't hesitate to allow the return and refund. I've had...

Lost eye cup for conquest HD

Zeiss USA has been equally responsive for me, providing extended eyecups at no cost (not even shipping) twice now after I purchased new Conquest HD's.

Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 - oh my!

For what it's worth, I'm still 100% thrilled with my 8x32 Conquest HD's. They have performed perfectly in every way, under every situation since I purchased them. I recently returned from a trip where I was viewing through them on a window mount for hours on end, searching for wildlife. Zero...

    D500 and...

Don't overlook that Tamron. It's lighter than either of the other lenses, and if you're hand-holding all day, those ounces really add up. It's also reported to be sharper than the G1 version and I used the G1 Tamron for over 5 years and produced some of my all time favorite bird images with...

    Nikon 200-500mm tripod collar

I bought this one for my lens and I have zero complaints. I like it much better than the original lens collar. After buying it, I'm glad I didn't shell out for the Kirk. Oh, and it rotates smoothly for me...

Adapting 1.25" Astronomy Eyepieces to the Nikon ED50

I realize this is a very old thread now, but I wanted to provide an update with my experience using astronomy eyepieces on the ED50. First of all, I want to thank Bill for offering to send me two of the threaded barrel adapters so I could use astronomy eyepieces on my scope. I started out with...

    Where are meopros made?

Need some help settling a disagreement. Anyone know where Meopta's Meopro binoculars are made? Not where they are assembled, or a portion are made, but where the bulk of the binocular comes from. My bet is China. Others disagree.

    "Racism Is Killing the Planet"

I'm not so sure about that. It's a difficult argument to get most people to understand, but racism is at the root of nearly all the problems the human species has, and those problems lead to a lot of environmental degradation.

    "Racism Is Killing the Planet"

this. I've been hearing "save the planet" for my entire life. What they really mean is "save the planet AS WE KNOW IT!" Mono is absolutely right. "The planet" will fling us tiny organisms right off and keep on twirling, only to create new species and new ecosystems. Anyone who believes...

    A little Kamakura anecdote...

I fairly certain that the two pairs of Cabelas Outfitter HD's I owned, were Kamakura bins. Nearly identical in optical performance to my Conquest HD's, really.

    A little Kamakura anecdote...

Swaro needs to outsource their focus wheels to Nikon or even Bushnell. LOL

Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 - oh my!

Had a reason to use my 8x32's today, and I whipped them out, spotted what I wanted to see, and put them away without a thought. Looking back, that is all I've ever asked from a pair of binoculars - to not get in my way. And there is nothing I can find about the 8x32 HD's that "gets in my way."...

SLC, Monarch HG, Conquest or Trinovid ?

I would have to agree with this. I've only looked through the Monarch HG's in the store, but compared to the Conquest HD's and Swaros, they were not as bright. Fantastic in every other way, however.

New Zeiss 8x32SF as your main binocular

Could an 8x32 be my "main" binocular? After having tried dozens over the past 3-4 years, I have arrived at the conclusion that there isn't much I can't do with 8x32 Conquest HD's. To me, they are the perfect combination of size, durability, weight, brightness, sharpness, handling, function and...

SLC, Monarch HG, Conquest or Trinovid ?

I have now owned the SLC, the Conquest HD and the Leica Trinovid HD. I have not yet had the pleasure of using the Monarch HG's, although if/when I do, I expect to like them very much (I've always been impressed by Nikon optics). Of the four, I chose the Conquest HD's. I had the SLC and...

Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 - oh my!

Yes, the diameter of the eyecups is very important as well - for properly fitting a binocular to one's face. I really like the fact that the 8x32's use the same eyecups as the full size Conquests, since they fit my eye sockets almost perfectly. I have a rather large bridge to my nose, and...

How many Binoculars do you have?

I confess to having somewhat of an addiction to binoculars. I've been fascinated by them since I was very young. I think at one point I was up to nearly a dozen, but then my taste became a little more refined and I sold quite a few in order to buy fewer, better models. I always think I've...

Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 - oh my!

It's rather amazing to me how many lower priced binoculars do this correctly and how many higher priced binoculars have eyecups that can't cover the amount of eye relief the binoculars have. I have a theory about this though... (hear me out). It's a decision by the optics manufacturers to...

Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 - oh my!

Where have these been all my life? I will confess I have a problem with binoculars. I'm a bit addicted. I bet I've owned 30 pairs over the past 5 years, including two pairs of Conquest HD x42's (8's and 10's). I always considered the Conquest HDs' the class of their price range based on a...

    8x32 Bins w/Great Eye Relief

I am currently testing out a pair of Meopta Meopro HD 8x32's, and they have plenty of eye relief. Strangely enough, they also have eyecups that extend out far enough to match it! That's rare in my experience, esp. with 8x binoculars.

Leica Trinovid HD 10x42 or Zeiss Conquest HD 10x42 eye relief query !

You're correct, and one call to Zeiss had the extended eyecups in my mailbox in just two days, free of charge. However, even the extended eyecups still weren't enough for me. I still got kidney beans when I really drew the binoculars in, and that was with 10x42's. It would have been even...

New for 2020 Meopta Meopro Air Binoculars

I only have one question about these. Where were they made? If they are made in China like the Meopros, then no thanks. Not for political reasons, but optical reasons. I have yet to find a pair of MIC bins that my eyes agree with.

Leica Trinovid HD 10x42 or Zeiss Conquest HD 10x42 eye relief query !

The Conquest HD's actually have too much eye relief for the eyecups, if a person doesn't wear glasses. I'd go with the Conquests. I've owned both pairs the OP mentions and the Conquests will give you a larger field of view. One of the reasons I returned my Trinovid HD's was the "tube" effect...

BX-4 Pro Guide HD - impressive

That's interesting. It's actually one of my favorite cases. It always rides under my driver's seat, and is very quick to get into. I hate zippered and buckled cases for that reason, and at first wasn't sure about the closure for this one but I gained an appreciation for it over time. But...

BX-4 Pro Guide HD - impressive

5 months later, my impressions are unchanged. IQ is still fantastic, and I've come to love the light and balanced feel in the hands. They remind me a lot of my Sightron Blue Sky 8x32's to be honest, except they are x42's, gather a lot more light and are sharper. I know have a pair of 8x42's...
