    A Pair of Peregrine Falcons.jpg

I caught this duo swirling around the cliffs near my home last night, one of them screaming as they soared and zoomed, chasing each other and seemingly having the time of their lives. It went on for maybe 10 minutes as roamed up, down and around the cliff, in and out of eyesight. I got this...

    Male Silky Flycatcher (Phainopepla)

I've only seen this bird twice in my backyard, both times he flew in, stayed a few seconds and left with barely enough time to snap an image. Luckily I got this one of this beautiful specimen.

This is an amazing shot, I try to shoot these little guys all the time and this is just a perfect shot, very well executed!! Love the blur of his wings to go with the tack sharpness of his head and body, really a magnificent image!
  7. Lesser Goldfinch

    Lesser Goldfinch

A really lucky encounter to see this guy away from the feeder. I was able to get pretty close and he perched for 15 or 20 seconds and allowed me to get some shots of him. I don't get many brightly colored birds in my backyard and this one was just breathtaking.

Greater Roadrunner in a Juniper Tree

I saw this guy yesterday on my back wall, but when I got out there he meandered over to a juniper tree and seemingly hopped up into it. I walked around it, at a distance, looking, but couldn't for the life of me spot him. A bit later I was recharging the hummingbird feeders and thought I saw...

Thank you, all of you, for the information and explaining what you look at when identifying birds. I don't know anyone that is a bird watcher so this forum is so far my only source of information aside from my field guild and a few YouTube videos. The information you provide, especially the...

I saw this guy behind the house a couple of weeks ago. He made a pass at the tree where the birds perch before hitting the feeder, came up empty and flew to a tree on the next hill. I only got this look at him. When he took off he flew directly away from me. I have tentatively identified him...

    Woodhouse's Scrub Jay

These beautiful birds visit the backyard a few times a day and they're a favorite of mine. They come roaring in, grab some seed or suet, then jump to the top of the tree and shoot off, to be repeated several times throughout the day.
