    Vine's Rustic?

Thanks! Not unheard of round here but pretty late nonetheless. It was the only moth in the trap so it'd be remiss not to be certain!

    Vine's Rustic?

Seems a bit late in the year to me, but in the flesh it's got that grey waxy look that VR has. FL is 13mm, give or take. Anyone have a view?

    Bird poo tortrix

No apology necessary, and I'm seriously envying your macro lens there. Thanks for remembering! I'll update my records.

His book is top, for sure

    Bird poo tortrix

Gotta get me a copy of that book, if only for the title. It would sit nicely alongside Enjoying Moths! Thanks for help on the ID, sounds reasonable to me.

    Bolete?

    Nobody?

    Bird poo tortrix

Hi all This one to me looks slightly like lots of things and not exactly like any of them. Eucosma? Epinotia? South coast, single specimen came to light last night. Please opine.

    Bolete?

Hello. Went down an internet rabbit-hole with this, but we thought it might be Suillellus luridus -- can anyone confirm or correct? Found by the side of a road through farmland in deepest Dorset. For comparison, the Nerf dart in pic 2 is 7cm long. Apologies but these photos are all we have, so...

    The Butterfly Count

I’d have thought the purpose of the count is to get ‘regular’ people interested, and possibly to monitor Fortunes of common species. Too many hard-to-find (or ID) species could be offputting.

    August Moths

    4 could be cabbage?

    August Moths

Is 3 Pale Mottled Willow? There’s an aberrant Small Phoenix illustrated in Manley that’s a dead ringer for no 2. I’d have said Orange Swift for 5.

    Thank you!

    Gelechiid?

I'm thinking it might be Scrobipalpa costella -- anyone have a view?

    Gelechiid?

Hello. Can anyone help me get started with this guy? 7mm nose to tip.

    White thing

Actually that works for me, especially as there's an apple tree right next to the trap location. I'll file under 'possible' -- thank you!

    White thing

I was looking at the (I think) Brown House Moth and never even noticed the small white tapered looking guy at bottom left until much later. With apologies for the photo quality, can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Micro ID please

Fraid I don't have the expertise to say with certainty, but I can point you at this if you haven't seen it already: http://bmg.b-i-s.org/upload/library/The_Scopariinae.pdf

    Little Brown Job

Thanks! Yes, on investigation that looks suitably variable.

    Little Brown Job

Not even sure I've got this one down to family (tortrix, right?). Anyone help me out? Needless to say, it made a successful bid for freedom moments after the pic was taken.
