    Sparrowhawks hunting in pair

First time I've ever seen an adult pair actively pursuing garden birds, at the same time. A female struck first , pinning a male blackbird down, whilst the male chased a fleeing Blue Tit. I would think it was sheer coincidence rather than anf form of strategy.

French law supports limesticks use under heritage

https://www.rarebirdalert.co.uk/RealData/ArticleDetail.asp?id=3693&S=DatePosted%20DESC&P=1&pos=9 This is obviously a backward step in many ways and must have repercussions throughout other EU countries such as Italy and Cyprus where efforts to ban and prosecute hunters using this method have...

Bison coming to Kent (Merged Thread)

https://t.co/KqTVy2YY1Z?amp=1 How long before they make the habitat suitable? Interesting methodology rather than machinery to remove the intrusive trees. And private funding.

    Garden Isolation today

Song Thrush still singing despite an early 6 am start, must be his second wind. Long tailed tits collecting Pheasant feathers, Blue Tits prospecting a nestbox. Blackcap on fat ball feeder

First ever winter record for the garden this morning was a male Blackcap happily feeding on suet fat balls for about 10 minutes, nonplussed by the frenetic Coal Tits.

Starling deaths - caused by Predator

https://news.sky.com/story/wales-hundreds-of-starlings-found-dead-were-avoiding-bird-of-prey-11910210 I guess the forensic science proves what happened. Oops, typo in the headline.

    Britain's Largest Warship

Last nights episode showed a variety of birds on the aircraft carrier Queen Elizabeth as she exercised off North America. Species I noted were Northern Parula, Grey Catbird, unknown Dendroica warbler and other LBJs, probably Song Sparrow. A Peregrine stayed with the vessel for many days and was...

Hen Harrier, good news for a change.

http://www.rarebirdalert.co.uk/RealData/ArticleDetail.asp?id=3146 God speed, these will have a chance to migrate and make it to adulthood. ( Purposefully refrains from further political and shooting advice).

    Wise move or Inevitable

Should this scheme have occurred elsewhere or was it worth the risk? I know a lot of overhead power lines have been transferred to subterranean in the UK but in remote Mediterranean areas they still pose a threat. http://www.rarebirdalert.co.uk/RealData/ArticleDetail.asp?id=3142

    Unwanted Painful Fish Tick

Went with my townie sister to the seaside ( Overstrand ) to cool off and she could dip her toes in the quite warm North Sea. Suddenly she shouted out, " Quickly, there's a stranded fish, put it back in." After 30 seconds of rubbish direction I saw this 4 inch thing and picked it up. It flipped...

    Who decided this?

https://news.sky.com/story/ashdown-forest-firefighters-battle-blaze-at-winnie-the-pooh-wood-11706782 The report suggests volunteers were burning gorse and scrub. Surely this is against all good practice, advice and general guidance in relation to breeding birds. Dartford warblers would be on...
