Who'd ever have thunk it. i have to admit the only binocular on screen that registered with me was the one Angelina Jolie was using in Mr and Mrs Smith. I don't suppose anyone could enlighten me on make and model? I wasn't an optics nerd then and too preoccupied with er... other details o:D

Patently ridiculous (unless meant as a jest, in which case, my apologies). Given the array of electronic and visual gadgetry, deployed from multiple vessels, that would be sweeping the skies and seas for miles around a carrier battle group, if I had to make a guess, the good captain is probably...

My suspicion is that most experienced birders (more likely to spend that kind of money on binoculars) prefer binoculars with larger fields of view and the brighter image afforded by larger objectives. The IS model most favoured by birders is the 10x42. The stated fields of view of the 10x32...

Regarding 30/32mm vs 40/42mm - when I was at Birdfair I was struck by how lightweight and handy every 8x42 I tried was. Maybe this ease of use, together with the advantages of larger objective size, is the reason why there are fewer 8x30s/32s. I too felt the images offered by the current...

I really enjoyed the viewing tower set up by Swarovski which offered an excellent vantage point over the lakes, and wish I had taken some photos. (It would be interesting to know if any birds of particular interest were spotted over the weekend.) It would have been a great place to test...

Hi Binoscoper: I only picked up both Opticron porros for quite a short time compared to the more extensive look over I did the BGA VHD (aka Tracticron), so my impressions of these two are very much impressions. Some aspects of both models I really liked: both were remarkably lightweight and...

Birdfair / Thoughts on the Tracticron Attended with my brother Duncan between 11.00am and 5.30pm Saturday - my first visit to this event. The extensive selection of binoculars that could be picked up and looked through in a real world setting made the trip very well worth the time spent...
