    Thank you for this. Funny, was discussing these 2 pics with a birding guy I know in CR and he wasn't sure...but was edging towards Brown-crested (owing to tail colour).......but he was also thinking the pics might be of 2 different species.

    Good morning folks Here's another 3 pics from Costa Rica, which I have had a guess at but still not sure about.... As always, all help very gratefully received. 6583 - Dusky-capped Flycatcher? 6639 - Dusky-capped Flycatcher? 6667 - Steely-vented Hummingbird?

    What you actually provided was a bird species ID that wasn't included in the field guide. I then checked the internet and as highlighted by you and another, this indicated a split. But the split species with the same latin name as Green Violetear (Colibri thalassinus) is not Lesser Violetear...

    Thank you. Lesser Violetear not listed in my CR field guide for some reason - but that would make much sense geographically. Flycatcher looks a good shout too. (y)
