Are the Swarovski NL 8x32s the best birding binoculars?

Thanks, that helps. I couldn't sort that out of the general confusion, who it was that had changed their mind(s) so quickly. A recent thread has got me thinking that the perfect-flat-field approach is really just an attempt to better distinguish alpha binoculars and help insecure buyers avoid...

Are the Swarovski NL 8x32s the best birding binoculars?

I don't think anyone over here can understand how a PM can fail so utterly in a mere six weeks, or their party keep governing for years anyway. But our politics are at least as bad with different details. No wonder Putin thinks the West is crumbling. Not to mention Xi... Used what? What do...

Are the Swarovski NL 8x32s the best birding binoculars?

I agree, and wasn't arguing for exceptions, only suggesting that enforcement isn't up to us, so if the problem is allowed to persist, we should try not to exacerbate it.

Are the Swarovski NL 8x32s the best birding binoculars?

Surely Dennis comes here for the same basic reasons others do, for conversation and exchange of knowledge (or even binoculars), nothing evil or even manipulative, except in the sense that all interaction can be viewed as transactional, which is highly reductive. Some of his is just overdone or...

Are the Swarovski NL 8x32s the best birding binoculars?

Interesting proposal, but I'm not sure I buy it. Won't rectangular cropping for sharing eliminate soft edges? Just as many birders would. But it doesn't need to be tack sharp at the edge, except for the sort of hunter who fears he could miss a twelve-pointer if it isn't. Or the sort of...

Are the Swarovski NL 8x32s the best birding binoculars?

CAN see, how? I don't believe one can tell whether the edge is entirely sharp while looking at the center. I was just testing that with my EII with a similar FOV: 60-70% out maybe, which is why a large sweet spot is desirable. But the edge, no. You would actually have to look out well away...

Are the Swarovski NL 8x32s the best birding binoculars?

Now I see why I should have avoided this thread. The word "best" in the title was the red flag.

Are the Swarovski NL 8x32s the best birding binoculars?

I presume it was you who turned it into a question... :sneaky: I know no binocular that outperforms NLs in any respect relevant to birding, except glare control. That said, I've seen a birder who chose the 8x42 instead, and I'd lean toward the 10x42 myself, so preference and application...
