Yes, I see now. It is a Mourning Sierra-finch. I was thinking of the black coloring of the male for this species. Thanks!- EllenTarbox

We photographed this little guy hopping around in some bushes off the side of the road in this protected natural area. There were a few of them together. Any ideas? Thanks!- EllenTarbox
