    A better-quality (no offence) photo of the inside of a flower would probably nail it. No need to tear anything apart.

    Not sure what you mean by this. The photos show that it is very hairy. Mulleins can be tricky, but looks ok for great mullein V. thapsus which commonly grows to (almost) that height.
