New Product Introduction Today From Swarovski ?

Absolutely right. I don't attach my binoculars to the Finnstick in any way, I put them on a suitable plate where they lie securely, like this one: https://www.berlebach.de/de/?bereich=details&id=70 Please note I don't use the strap to secure the binoculars to the plate. Obviously I also have...

New Product Introduction Today From Swarovski ?

Quite right. There's no one true way when it comes to holding binoculars. And some people (myself included) change they way they hold binoculars depending on how whether they're tired or not, the weather conditions and so on. What I find curious though is that only a very few people outside...

New Product Introduction Today From Swarovski ?

I read a brief remark somewhere in the old literature that experiments showed an AFOV of >90 degrees didn't work for most observers in terrestrial viewing. Apparently not seeing the edge of the field of view is something most observers find hard getting used to. Can't remember the reference, it...

New Product Introduction Today From Swarovski ?

I tried something similar, on a Russian 12x40, some 20 years ago, inspired by some pictures of old binoculars I had seen. I've still got the binoculars, couldn't find the contraption I made though. I also used wood, even covered it in rubber. The plan was to make a headrest in aluminium if it...

New Product Introduction Today From Swarovski ?

One interesting question is why Swarovski abandoned the open bridge design. Is it because the open bridge design with its complex focusers was too expensive to make, or maybe it was just not as reliable as a more traditional design? I guess it may well be a combination of both. What I don't...

And that's precisely why "sharp edges" don't matter - as long as they're sharp enough you notice, say, a soaring bird of prey. The importance many people here attach to "edge sharpness" is a joke. Hermann

A few unconnected observations ... ... on the NL: 1. There do appear to be a few influencers in this thread, trying to push the NL. 2. Nobody knows how the NL will perform in the field, and yet many people appear to take it for granted it will be the best binocular around. What a joke! How...

New Product Introduction Today From Swarovski ?

Good thing I'm not on FB. That type of advertising makes me pretty suspicious of the product itself. Anyway, I'm not going to buy the NL, no matter how good it is. It's too heavy for my liking, and it has the same stupid "Field Pro" lugs as the SV. That is a no-go for me. Hermann

An even more extreme case is the Deltarem with its *huge* field of view (198/1000m, AFOV 90 degrees). I had a chance to look through one (in excellent condition!) many years ago, and found the experience strange. I remember I really liked the immersive view, but scanning was really strange...

    1. The Canons also work just like conventional bins if you run out of juice. 2. There are also mechanical stabilisers around - the Zeiss 20x60S and the 20x60S Mono. They appear to have abandoned this technology even though the 20x60S appears still to be in production. 3. How much time do you...

Not Leica. Not Swarovski. Not Zeiss. They happily indulge in promoting yesteryear's technology. Hermann

They'd say that, wouldn't they? And if you believe that you'll believe anything. Hermann

New Product Introduction Today From Swarovski ?

Well, there were plenty of wideangle binoculars in years past, some with even wider angles than this bunch, so I doubt anything will be "copyrighted". Hermann
