I can't remember either, but I do remember thinking no way was I going to even think about buying the EDG, which seemed to be seen as an improvement at the time. How significant that improvement was also eludes me.

There is a 2003 EL SV 10X32 on The Bay for $1650 or best offer.

As I remember, there was a rather appalling price between the LX and the EDG when the EDG came out.

i don't mean to sound rude here, but why can't folks who are severely myopic just wear their glasses, or other corrective lenses while using binoculars? What am I missing, different errors such as astigmatism in addition to the refractive one?

I tend to be a bit simple-minded about such things and if i need to see something at the edge of the field, I move the glass to put it in the center. So far I have not been bothered by any softness of the edges of my 8X32 SF but I haven't tried them on stars.

All I cared about was that it was lighter, and it is. (600 gm. instead of 840 gm.) I did not haggle over how much lighter. There was no "enough" in the equation.

Those are only part of the reasons I bought the SF 32, because I wanted something lighter than the 42 I was using. A 32 must, of necessity, be smaller and lighter than a 42. I did not think in terms of "limits" when considering my choice. Had the SF not been available, I probably would have...
