    Binocular bargains

I wondered about that too, so I thought I'd put it up and see what folks said. I just double checked ......... my goof, it isn't SV.

    Is Nikon done with Alphas

I can't remember either, but I do remember thinking no way was I going to even think about buying the EDG, which seemed to be seen as an improvement at the time. How significant that improvement was also eludes me.

    Binocular bargains

There is a 2003 EL SV 10X32 on The Bay for $1650 or best offer.

    Is Nikon done with Alphas

As I remember, there was a rather appalling price between the LX and the EDG when the EDG came out.

Zeiss Conquest vs Swarovski EL 8x32

"Belonged to a little old lady who only used it to look at warblers on Sundays."

NL Pure 8x32 and NL Pure 10x32!

That isn't quite what I said.

NL Pure 8x32 and NL Pure 10x32!

I looked it up and played a video, and now I can't get the tune out of my head. "Rousing" is the word which springs to mind.

    I like slower focus

i don't mean to sound rude here, but why can't folks who are severely myopic just wear their glasses, or other corrective lenses while using binoculars? What am I missing, different errors such as astigmatism in addition to the refractive one?

NL Pure 8x32 and NL Pure 10x32!

It is alleged that there are, among the birding community, some for whom their binoculars are a fashion accessory, a bit of personal jewelry, or a demonstration of affluence. I, personally, have never met such a shallow individual, but I bird alone. The orange would seem to be especially...

What did you see in your binoculars today?

Today's highlights were a lovely pair of Green-winged Teal (Anas crecca) and a Female Wood Duck standing on a log having a prolonged preen for herself. Heard some toads calling, and the Kestrel was still on station and hunting. Another (or the same) Muskrat. Glimpsed what was probably a Belted...

    I like slower focus

How much extra are you willing to pay for that "feature"?

    Is Nikon done with Alphas

In the years I have been here, I have come to the conclusion that everything said about binoculars is subjective, and if you want to know about one, you have to actually look through it for at least a day, maybe longer. It is idle to sit around throwing specifications at each other like the...

Will we have to wait until May for full reviews?:mad:

I thought fleas only infested mammals. Guess I learned something today.

NL Pure 8x32 and NL Pure 10x32!

I tend to be a bit simple-minded about such things and if i need to see something at the edge of the field, I move the glass to put it in the center. So far I have not been bothered by any softness of the edges of my 8X32 SF but I haven't tried them on stars.

NL Pure 8x32 and NL Pure 10x32!

All I cared about was that it was lighter, and it is. (600 gm. instead of 840 gm.) I did not haggle over how much lighter. There was no "enough" in the equation.

NL Pure 8x32 and NL Pure 10x32!

Those are only part of the reasons I bought the SF 32, because I wanted something lighter than the 42 I was using. A 32 must, of necessity, be smaller and lighter than a 42. I did not think in terms of "limits" when considering my choice. Had the SF not been available, I probably would have...

What did you see in your binoculars today?

I have never seen a live weasel. I found one that managed to get run over on the road once. I took it home and made a study skin out of it.

NL Pure 8x32 and NL Pure 10x32!

With due respect all around, I doubt there is a human being alive who can see the difference between 91% and 92% assuming similar spectral distribution.

NL Pure 8x32 and NL Pure 10x32!

I wish I had known that when I bought my EL SV 10X42. Win some/lose some.

To whom have they sent samples, and who is likely to have the first review/comparisons?

NL Pure 8x32 and NL Pure 10x32!

Roughly $525 US more than the 8X32 SF. I paid $2249.

    I'm glad someone said that.

NL Pure 8x32 and NL Pure 10x32!

Any word on US pricing, or did I miss it? Eagerly awaiting comments and reviews, from the perspective of an 8X32 SF owner since December 2020.

What did you see in your binoculars today?

The Wood Ducks (Aix sponsa) have returned to my area! I saw a pair in each of three different places today. I also saw a Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) in hot pursuit of a Common Raven this afternoon. In addition, the usual assortment of Canada Geese, a Double Crested Cormorant...
