Zeiss SFL comparisons with older models

I was given 8x40SFL as a special birthday present. I had no idea it was coming so was pleasantly surprised, and certainly had no intention of buying this model beforehand. However, I now find myself using it most of the time. I put this down to a combination of optics, size and weight. I also...

Best compromise for a pair of Woodland binoculars ideally 7x ?

Don't forget 7x42 FL. Discontinued and hard to come by, but still worth considering. I managed to get an excellent example for under £800 very recently. It's a cracking binocular.

Pekka Nikander's Zeiss 32mm brief review

Agreed, particularly if the difference in FOV proves to be indiscernible and it's a good bit lighter.

New Product Introduction Today From Swarovski ?

It's refreshing to see a move away from double bridge in their flagship binocular. Having pushed Zeiss and Leica to follow they're switching back to a more traditional look which is good to see. Alan

    Springwatch 2020

Got a lot of time for Gordon Buchanan but was disappointed he failed to include spring lamb on the extensive diet of WTE. He hails from Mull so will be aware of the issue. Daresay he felt it wasn't appropriate or SW. I wonder if there are sheep farmers around the Lake of Menteith? Alan

Broadly agree with you on this. The nature wellness pitch was a tad overdone. Pleased to see the plug for Derek Niemann's book though. It's a very good read. Alan

Zeiss Victory SF 10x42 vs Swarovski EL 10x42

Sorry, missed that, in which case I recommend the Zeiss. Goldenbear's advice re returns/exchanges is sound however No matter how technically accomplished the binocular it might just not suit you in hand, so the option to swap would be reassuring, given the outlay. Bonne chance! Alan
