    Swarovski ATX 115 Review

I read Dwever's excellent review before purchase and I completely agree regarding image quality. First time scope user after trying the BTX on a Gitzo tripod with Wimberley Head . Agree it's heavy but definitely worth it for the clear, bright, rock steady, detailed views you get with fatigue...

Any ideas to stop Swarovski ATX 115 AS foot sliding out of Wimberley Head clamp ?

And just to complete this topic . I got the Wimberley P-10 lens plate and the whole rig is now perfectly balanced and safe (thanks Tringa45). The RRS Universal lens plate is slightly longer at 3.6" compared to the P-10 which is 3.31" so it might foul the barrel of the lens as you can see from...

NL Pure Focus Wheel Seems To Have Less Resistance Than March 18 Purchase Date

My NL 10x42 went in for repair to remove some debris in one barrel and I mentioned that focus wheel seemed a little stiff. Buttery smooth on return and same on 12x42 I exchanged them for.

Any ideas to stop Swarovski ATX 115 AS foot sliding out of Wimberley Head clamp ?

Thanks so much -that is a massive help. I'll try the M4 screws initially . I went for the balance rail initially thinking it was required to mitigate the rotational torque of the BTX. But it's not that heavy and the joint between the BTX and 115 appears very well engineered and I've seen no...

Any ideas to stop Swarovski ATX 115 AS foot sliding out of Wimberley Head clamp ?

Turns out the ATX 115 with BTX is perfectly balanced on the Wimberley Head Version 2 sitting on Gitzo 3542LS tripod. But I'm worried the whole lot could slide out the clamp as there are no safety stops like you get on a Wimberley lens foot attached to a telephoto lens . I tried the Swarovski...

    Focuser smoothness on NL Pure?

I had to return my first pair of 10x42 NL Pure as a bit of swarf appeared in one lens barrel . I had noticed the focus wheel wasn't as buttery smooth as my brother in law's Zeiss Victory but not bad enough to return. It was worse if I applied forward pressure to the wheel while turning . Anyway...

How many of you have lost these little black inserts on your NL Pure?

Looks like a different design on your picture as the slit on this filler piece goes all the way across.

How many of you have lost these little black inserts on your NL Pure?

Wondering if they were fitted back to front looking at the remaining one .....

12x42 NL instead of 10x42 NL for birding ?

Answering my own question here but short answer is I much prefer the NL12x42 . I was worried about them being difficult to hold steady but no more difficult than 10x42 The strange thing was when I locked on a bird with the 10x42 it wasn't as dramatic as my previous 10x42 SV as the FOV was bigger...

12x42 NL instead of 10x42 NL for birding ?

    Yes I hope so.

12x42 NL instead of 10x42 NL for birding ?

I’ve always liked 10x magnification compared to 8x so I can see the bird in all its glory filling the view and happy to accept the weight /bulk and shake penalty. I tried the forehead rest with the 10x 42 and it didn’t seem to make much difference. I’ve never seriously considered 12x as on...

Short review of the Swarovski 10x42 NL Pure

First non technical impressions having come from the 10x42 SV to the 10x42 NL . Whoa, what is going on here ? as you first take in the enlarged field of view . I hadn't thought it would be such a big deal as you are focused on the centre but it does help to orientate you and avoids getting lost...
