Well, that was a bit of a rollercoaster! Much obliged to you all. As an aside my son in Australia (South of Melbourne), who is also a bird enthiusiast, just sent me this photo of a bird in his neighbours garden. It's a Tawny Frogmouth so he informs me.

Apologies for asking too simple a question. I do have field guides but sometimes looking in a book doesn't always compensate for actual expertise. So I wasn't looking for free advice, just some interaction with other birders. But I respect your view all the same.

I have quite a bit left of a batch of Bird nuts which they don't seem to like in the feeder! In fairness they don't look great, fairly dull and dry looking. What's the difference between Sunflower Seeds and Sunflower Hearts

I'm looking to buy a 12.75Kg bag of mixed bird seed from Amazon and I'm not sure which brand to go for, as the reviews on all of them are (like the seeds) mixed. Anybody got any suggested tried and tested brands?

Just sent off for some Sunflower Hearts so I'm going to give them a go . Using Amazon at the moment but can't decide what to get in the mixed seeds varieties - reviews very mixed and mostly from before 2020 so don't trust them.
