    ID needed

Hi I saw lots of fungi on a walk round Headley Heath late yesterday. I've never seen one of these before, can anyone tell me anything about it? It was growing at the base of a tree and must have been 10 or 11 inches high. Thanks, Dylan.

    bad taste for Peregrines?

Story on BBC news site about a new strategy to protect racing pigeons from predators. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3588252.stm "A fancier may pay £1,000 to £3,000 for a racing bird. To lose one of those birds to a peregrine is not very economical" It all comes down to money it seems :C

    Top service from Swarovski

One of the twist-out eyecups on my Swaro 8x20B bins got well & truly stuck and I wasn't very happy about it! (I've just given up smoking so was in a real bad mood anyway) I decided to drop into their offices in Salfords this afternoon as it's not too far from me, and check out their 'legendery'...

    peanut pests (moth?)

I went to refill the peanut feeder yesterday & noticed that the bag of peanuts was looking a little messy (lots of dust and breakage). On closer inspection the peanuts seemed to have been 'drilled' into, I then spotted the first of several larvae. Can anyone tell me what they are? I've had the...

    dirty Fox question

There is a fox which seems to come to the bird bath most evenings for a drink, once it has finished it urinates in the water before plodding off. I've got in the habit of changing the water in the morning and giving the bath a rinse. Today it went a step futher & left something extra in the...

Not a very good photo taken at Thursley Common. Can someone confirm it's a Woodlark? After following a couple of other threads I've decided (finally) to start keeping a list & it would be nice to add Woodlark. Cheers, Dylan.

video footage of Robin feeding it's mate

The Robins were not deep in the bushes today so I grabbed the vidcam & filmed them. I've squeezed it down to a 6MB MPEG file, if anyone is interested there's a link below. I'm a bit gutted as it's the first time I've had a clean shot at them and by the time I got the still camera out after...

    digiscoping animation

I've been working on an animation for my website and hoped to get some feedback here (Andy?) It's another 'what is digiscoping' page but I think I've taken a more visual approach, which will explain the basics to someone who had not heard of digiscoping before (long way of saying it's very...

    cheap(er) Swarovski option

I went to Kay Optical (Morden) to buy an astro eyepiece for my Swarovski and was told that 2nd hand AT80 scopes were becoming available as people 'trade up', normally these are very hard to find. After Andys recent digiscoping day I thought this info may be useful to anyone considering one of...

    ooh me Pipits

sorting through my photo backlog for my piccy site, anyone care to help with IDs? Both taken in the same location in Wales this summer. I had assumed they were both Meadow Pipits but now I'm not sure. The one on the right was taken as the sun was setting so has different lighting. Thanks, Dylan.

    Hello from Surrey,UK

Hello everyone, my name is Dylan, I'm 33, and I've been digiscoping since July of this year and get a real buzz from it. I had a bad motorcycle accident in '98 and was off my feet for a very long time, which has lead to a change of pace for me. I'm back on my feet, and I have a greater...
