Jerry,
That is the retailer Time and Optics. They are the "Lost Creek Shoe Shop" of Ohio. Very nice and knowledgeable Amish folks that own and work there. They have their own "spring fling" the first weekend in June and I usually go but can't this year because of a conflict with work.

Bruce, GG,
Thank you. :-)
For me personally I wasn't concerned about the size of the Trinovid 32. It isn't a "super short" 8x32 (thinking Zeiss FL based on memory) but it didn't feel as long as the Sightron. That is for sure.
Optics, as I mentioned previously, were certainly pleasing...
Various cooperative birds I phonescoped while there....
Northern Flicker
Great Blue Heron
Rose-breasted Grosbeak
Baltimore Oriole
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Round 3... the Magee Marsh area where the event was held. Pics are of the long road out to the boardwalk area which is located right on the shore of Lake Erie.
Ok, back from the first weekend of the Biggest Week in American Birding. Time to share some pics so you folks can see what it was like. All "regular pics" are with just my Iphone. Any bird pics featured were phonescoped with my Iphone and a couple of spotting scopes.
Lets start out with easy...
NM,
I did use the HGs again on Sunday. I did not have see any notable issues with apparent sharpness.
In addition I want to address the issue of field flattening. I am certain the HGs utilize it. I think some folks (not thinking of anyone in particular) assume that a flat field means "sharp to...
I will try to give the trinovids another go tomorrow. First impressions optically are huge sweet spot, decent off axis performance, cooler color bias, very good CA control, very good apparent sharpness. Mechanically the focus was excellent. Size wise I would not call them large for an 8 x 32...
Bruce,
I think I answered everything except the companies are Nikon, Kowa, Opticron, Zeiss, Swarovski and Leica with Time and Optics being the lone sport Optics retailer.
Ted,
Canon is here but only as a camera company. Nothing on the table but camera lenses. I doubt they will even know about the IS binoculars.
Troub,
The Nikon rep is contracted, not from the company and has no idea about the HG changes.
The Leica reps just received the binoculars within the...
Yesterday was not a good day to hit optics alley. The wind and rain was so bad that it actually ripped the tent apart and they closed it down shortly after 11 in the morning.
Today is a different story.....sunny and highs in the mid 50s. Lots of warblers all around Magee marsh. Most of them...
Bruce,
I will be there...both years most likely. ;) We will definitely have to get together. Tons of great local birding spots we can hit and plenty of optics to play with.
As for the biggest week, I tend to avoid the boardwalks and just hit that outer trail...sort of like a logging road. No...
The ABE is in Philly this year. Hopefully next year too. If you go then give me a shout and we can get together. I only live about an hour from the expo center Bruce.
Bruce,
I will be there for the first weekend...Friday through Sunday.
Also, Maven was there last year. I would assume they would be there again this year. Will check for you.
