Hen Harrier Day seems to be an elephant in the room for birders, I posted the following in a couple of Yorkshire Birding groups. With ten days to go before the Sheffield event and seventeen or eighteen for the rest of the country I thought I'd post it here as the sentiment still applies...

Behind me were three olive trees that had obviously been part of a grove. Behind them was a walled enclosure so the grove should have been in front of me.
This shows the extent to which trees and bushes are removed, a whole line trees had been removed leaving just the holes. This scene was repeated over a large area.
I did a lot of searching around the interweb before this holiday and found very few references to birding in Marrakech other than a few sightings whilst people were on their way elsewhere so I feel compelled to make it quite clear what it can be like. This is not a review of birding in Morocco...

Lowepro do an excellent range and wonderful after sales service. You can probably get this one cheaper elsewhere but it's the one I use.
