First time birding Colombia: Recommendations Wanted!

Thank you for the recommendations and possible contacts, I was planning on having a good bit of help due to the nature of Colombia with the bird diversity. Thankfully my Spanish is pretty good too due to being from Cuba, so even with a guide of limited English, I can keep a good conversation...

First time birding Colombia: Recommendations Wanted!

I read your report and it just gave me more love and excitement for the country but it also reminded me firsthand how badly Covid had screwed so many birders since March of last year. Hopefully you get back to Colombia soon enough, if you need a birding buddy by then, I'll gladly sign up!

First time birding Colombia: Recommendations Wanted!

I can understand the frustration from the "lack of a chase" and normally I'd say birds using feeders is not a bad way to get a lifer, but it does take away from the experience (especially if its hand fed). But at the same time, I can't imagine many of us having the time or money to go to some of...

First time birding Colombia: Recommendations Wanted!

I see lots of love for the Antpittas, have you already made trip to Paz de las Aves and the Jocotoco Antpitta Reserve in Ecuador to try you jeopardy luck there?

First time birding Colombia: Recommendations Wanted!

Good to know, I'll probably reach out to Pablo and see what he recommends. In the end, I'm going for the first time to the country and only the second time to the Neotropics, so almost any species not easily found in Florida or the Canal Zone of Panama will be a lifer for me.

First time birding Colombia: Recommendations Wanted!

Did you employ a local guide in the Santa Marta region or was it all with just you and your mates? If you had a guide, which one did you use the services of?

First time birding Colombia: Recommendations Wanted!

Read your report, love the experiences you had, some of the species you had reminded me on my brief weekend in Panama that year, but it also reminds me that even if I'm a decent birder in my state, chances of being as good of one in another place it's just a pipe dream (thinking mostly of the...

First time birding Colombia: Recommendations Wanted!

I tried looking into Aramacao Tours but their website is pretty bare bones, how good would you say their rates are and birding capabilities are? I've heard good things about Bogota Birding but not sure if it's due to being used to working as a group tour but their prices are very high like you...

First time birding Colombia: Recommendations Wanted!

Hi Everyone, Currently looking into planning a 1-2 week trip to a part of Colombia for 2022 (since my plans for 2021 have already fallen through or were changed, and honestly I don't expect any chance of leaving the US before the end of the year). But going back to the main point, I wanted to...
