    I think you were unlucky with crowds at Fraser's, although you did very well for birds. I was there at a weekend and there were only a few. It took me 5 minutes to see the partridges well. I agree that TN was bloody hard work.

    No sight nor sound of Argus. MPP was a lifer. I've heard them frustrating close several times before so it was especially pleasing to finally see one.

    Easy to get now. So, surprisingly, was Malayan peacock pheasant this morning: showing down to about ten metres.

    The important gen is I'm now in Kuala Tahan and contrary to popular belief several places serve beer and there's a shop selling beer, wine and spirits.

    I'm looking into Merapoh but one trip report says the entrance road is only suitable for 4WD. Does anyone know if that is the case?

    Now we're on the important things, is it right that you can't buy booze from shops in Kuala Tahan? It's over twenty years since I was last there, so I guess things have changed.

    Can I add to the Merapoh area questions: do you have a recommended place to stay and is there a particular trail that is best for the railbabbler? Having spent many, many hours failing to see one a site where they are 'easy' is extremely appealing.
