:) Thanks all. Finding credit has to go to the local guide Francis. Amazing camouflage and quite a stunner yes.

I know - that's why I mentioned in the Opus thread that this is added merely as a "stand-in" or "interim" photo till something better turns up. Was never even pretending that this was a good a shot - it was only a photo of an endemic of which no photos were available on...

    White-thighed Hornbill

Also a record shot but ID possible - was a first record in a few years for Kibale Forest, Uganda. Uploaded at http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/337560/ppuser/43075 Cheers Marcell

    White-thighed Hornbill (for Opus)

One of the very few confirmed records (and only a record shot of one of the 2 birds that flew in) for this species in Kibale Forest, Western Uganda - one of the 'old' guides had last seen it 9 years ago. Possibly overlooked as Black & White Casqued Hornbill. Note conspicuous black...

Thanks Alan - yes, it turned out to be a great trip. Probably my best view to date as well of this little skulker and what a beauty it turned out to be.

    Western Black-headed Oriole

Another one I'd somehow missed before. Unfortunately I'm not able to get the watermark lighter - the original was lost on a mobile hard-drive that crashed :( Hopefully it's at least worthwhile for ID. Uploaded at http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/337558/ppuser/43075 Cheers...

    Western Black-headed Oriole (for Opus)

Kibale Forest in Western Uganda. Note only white is the little patch on the primaries and the rest are edged grey-ish. (apologies about the watermark - the original lost on a crashed drive)

    Mountain Yellow Warbler

Just discovered another one till better shots turn up - although this species moves around rather rapidly and haphazardly making photographing it very challenging. Uploaded at http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/337551/ppuser/43075 Cheers Marcell
  18. Mountain Yellow Warbler (for Opus)

    Mountain Yellow Warbler (for Opus)

A distinct and loud song albeit quite variable. Can be hard to see as it frequents dense vegetation - in this case bamboo on the slopes of Mt Sabinyo near the perimeter of Volcanoes National Park, NW Rwanda

Thanks Deanne - and always a pleasure to share them. Hopefully I can also be the one replacing my own "record shots" on Opus with much better quality ones.

Have You Seen Any of These Birds?

3 Confirmed sightings on 18 & 19 November of Rockefeller's Sunbird in Nyungwe Forest, South-west Rwanda - myself with client and forest (national park) guide. Checking my photos to see if anything worthwhile although sadly missed a shot at the best one we saw. Last official record for Rwanda is...
