The is a zoomed out view of the previous closeup shot of a great blue heron. An old friend came to say hello? He seemed to be just sitting there waiting for me. Didn't move a bit. Let me take as many shots as I wanted to.

    An Old Friend?.jpg

This was taken yesterday morning during my paddling trip on the Rideau River. Comparing with the one that I'd uploaded not too ago: one that was taken back in September of 2020, they really looked like the same great blue heron.

Captured this image while paddling on the Rideau River, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, 2023 0827, please confirm whether it's a starling.

Wow, wonderful guys, you could tell from this really poor image capture! From the original I had to enlarge, crop, and use gamma correction to make some sense of it. Thank you very much for helping out.

Sorry, don't have a specific name for the heron, it's the same heron as the previous video. It's a great blue heron. The two videos were taken at the same location with different angles.

  15. Cormorant swimming in river

    Cormorant swimming in river

This was my very first image capture of a cormorant swimming in water. All my previous shots were of it perching on tree branches or on dead wood floating on water.
  16. Laughing Heron

    Laughing Heron

Took this while paddling on the Rideau River on a sunny morning. Not sure whether it's a black crowned night heron or not. Small comparing with the other great blue herons that I'd been seeing. It was perching on a tree and I was shooting from my kayak. That's why the low angle.

  20. Great Blue Heron & Mallard Duck in confrontation or in conversation?

Great Blue Heron & Mallard Duck in confrontation or in conversation?

Bumped into this pair while paddling on the Rideau River near Campers Island. They were standing quite still facing one another for a few minutes: no mouth movements nor sound that I could hear. So if they were communicating, it must be telepathic. I just kept my distance and busy with snapping...
