General Gear Anxiety with particular Swarovski NL 12x42 thoughts

Jan, I agree that it is very confusing. If there is an actual improvement in the optics I am still not against it but I would prefer not having to keep track of the exact year or iteration on each model to find out which is the "one to get". I was not aware of the B1 Plus (which I thought was...

Thank you for the input Tenex. I might have given off conflicting reports during my posting but my only major issue with the Meopta 15x56 HD is with glasses. It does work well enough but there is very little wiggle room for me. Without glasses the Meoptas are great in every aspect. I am not...

Peter, suggestion on the 12x50 noted. There is actually one out on Blocket at the moment.

Peter, I had hoped Swarovski would have improved glare resistance. I have noticed it in the past with a pair I had before. The NL's are boxed up and going back this weekend. Great binoculars but not great enough to replace what I have at the added cost.

Hey George and Jan, the bin is brand new, sent out from the factory in Jan 2021. It is fresh from the oven. :) I have not seen the previous model in the flesh so I did not know the armor is different. Pictures I have seen before have had dots on the armor though this one has a "leather like"...

Just a few images. Maybe I can snag my friends phone adapter today and shoot some through the binoculars.

Both Bino postings updated with specs. Yesterday another weak point of the Swarovskis became apparent: eyepiece glare sensitivity. The eyepiece oculars are generously large but are easily affected by stray light. Indoors I found that even a ceiling light would cause glare - there is none on the...

Hello all, the Swarovski 12x42 NL arrived an hour ago. 🙂 I have had a brief comparison with the Meopta 15x56 HD (my Zeiss 10x32FL is not at home at the moment). Before I write anything I think I should spend a little time with the Swaroski and get some pictures in, if there is any interest...

Yes, me too. I feel I did omit some of my background which has led me to this slippery slope: One of the reasons I am being so fuzzy about my binoculars is that age has starting to catch up with me, soon turning 50 and with a succesful LASIK eye surgery in the past after which I didn't need...

Tom: I am not very keen on selling the 10x32FL, that is correct. It is my second pair, my first pair was sold to a close friend a few years ago and he is still thoroughly impressed with them. Ending up getting another pair in the end, and very happy I did. The thing that has complicated things...

Hi all, the Swarovski 12x42 NL is currently en route to yours truly. Will arrive on thursday it seems. Will do a look-out (bino shoot out) between the heap of glass accumulated. I have a return window on the Swaro's and part of me (my wallet part) is hoping I will be slightly underwhelmed. The...

Tim, that puts another perspective on it. Great glass is worth "nothing" if you don't use them. Better let someone else enjoy them and have one pair less or get another pair to your liking. The Victory 8x25 FL is a great, compact pair - but I almost never use them. They are just "money on the...

Since you already have some great glass in your preferred range I would suggest keeping your cool for a while unless you feel the NL is "that" much of an improvement over your existing 10x42. Letting go of that 8x32 would probably be a mistake unless you don't use it that often and/or sell it...

Thank you all for your replies so far - very good input! The most sensible thing would be keeping the 10x32 and the 15x56. For sure. If the 12x NL works as well for my eyes as the 10x NL it would replace both the Zeiss and the Meopta as a more of a long-ish range binocular I can both handhold...

I use binos more than I have before (which of course says nothing about my usage really, just pretend it makes sense) and live where there is enough wildlife to warrant a pair or two "for life". I have three binoculars at the moment and I find I am juggling them around too much and would like...
