The juvenile looks like a coot to me. The bill looks thin and over all color of the bird more like coot. I didn’t see a single purple swamphen at my week there. Did the population decrease?

Last day for me today. Spending the day at the pool I had two eagles taking some height and flying in the direction of can Picafort from Alcudia. Felt bigger than booted eagle but I didn’t have my binoculars with me to be certain.

I would say that the falcon is a kestrel, not a merlin. Note the shape, pattern on the tail and brown back.

I am back home now. It was a rather quiet week so we ended up mostly on the beach, as I was there with family who are not as keen on birdwatching as I am. Having the osprey close to one of the hides at Albufera was fun to see.

We went to Albufera and Depuradora today where we previously have had luck with bee eaters. Very few birds at both places. Four vultures and a booted eagle seen far away in the south from Depuradora, but nothing new really.

I had a brief visit at Albufera on monday. No Temminck’s stint. Mostly wood sandpipers and probably the same little stint. We didn’t notice any bee eaters, are they still passing through?

I was there a few weeks earlier in May last year and saw around five Red-footed Falcons on the central plains. I have the birding tourist´s guide which I have used in previous visits, so I have covered most of the spots closest to Alcudia. We will rent a car for a few days and try to focus on...

I did see your comment there, thank you :) It sat like this and only moved its head, so all I have is the head in other angles. What makes me unsure is that I find the bill and crest long. But it was windy so the crest might get help with the wind to look longer?

Went along the ca’n cuarassa track today. Nothing new to report. I met an english birder who gave me advise on the egyptian vultures, so I hope I see them during the week. I also met a spanish couple who had seen the vultures two hours previous to our arrival there today.

In Sweden Flava and Thunbergi do meet and interbreed. The birds from such interbreeding can look a lot like Thunbergi, but most often they will have a supercilium like the Flava has.

We have both Flava and Thunbergi breeding in Sweden. The yellow wags I see in spring looks just like them.
