First one is a hawk overlooking a field (Maine)
Third one is a bird in a meadow (VT)
Second one I thought was a blue heron but the head seemed much thicker than the other blue herons I had seen (Maine), last photo is another heron I was comparing the head size to
The biggest thing is finding an adapter that is easy to use and fairly quick to setup. Without that you will just be frustrated all the time. The upturned eye piece would seem much easier to make an adapter for. I have one of the screw on adapters for the straight eye piece and it has been very...
Basically, I keep my photos on a harddisk plus I have two external harddisks. I don't worry much about losing some tiny change and focus more on the big picture--keeping the drives reasonably well sync'd. I have a nightly cron task that sync's the harddisk with harddisk 1. Very occasionally, I...
I think it is bluebirds, they have been hanging around somewhat. See pics. I also think some kind of wren is there and anther bird I don't know what it is... maybe a goldfinch?
titmouse, chicadee, and a woodpecker have also been seen with juncos running around on the ground.
MY tent cost 50$ USD, Large sized Lunchbox was Free (given to me), small gas grill (much easier than finding wood) 75$, sleeping bag I cannot remember the price but somewhere around 10-15$. The price of some campgrounds is discouraging, though. I try to find free places.
I kind of worry that a bird feeder will attract some kind of an animal with a disease. Can you get a virus like rabies from touching stuff that infected animals ate off of?
Looked in the pics like most of the vegetation had shed leaves. I wonder if a couple of evergeen bushes/trees would help entice birds to hang out? I like American Holly, very pretty. Does anyone know if birds like them to hide in?
Shop around and I believe the prices are actually pretty similar for both cameras. I think the canon has a slightly longer reach on the lens. There have been some complaints about getting good images with the canon, but others have posted really nice shots so I am thinking it is more a question...
Birds are at both my suet feeders and a peanut feeder filled with sunflower seeds. I saw two blueish birds with orange chests a cardinal and several titmice
It's common to find dead frogs at ponds both in nature and in man made settings.
Best thing you can do is find a very small heater that will keep a few inches of the surface ice free and put leaves in the bottom of the pond. I would go with a solar powered unit and see if that works. Usually...
Nut house those feeders look fantastic, if I had squirrels in my yard I'd buy one myself. BTW, be glad you guys have squirrels, believe it or not there are places where people do not even have so much as squirrels in their yards!
I was looking out the window today and noticed several crows were milling about in a commercial drive that had been cleared of snow. At this point, the river nearby was mostly frozen over and ground covered in snow. I thought clearing some space of snow might attract them to my yard.
I shoved...
