    Captur Wireless Remote Trigger

Hi, Wonder if anyone can help me please. I have a Captur wireless remote trigger which was working fine last time I used it. But now, the piece with the shutter button on it has a red light where it used to be green and doesn't fire the shutter. I've replaced the batteries but that hasn't...

    Little Owl Nest site disturbance

Hi All, Does anyone know if there is a penalty for anyone disturbing the nesting site of little owls? A local farmer had some owls nesting in one of the farm building and they've nested there for years. But this year, although the adults have been seen regularly flying to & from the nest...

    Bird Recognition App

Hi All, Does anyone know whether there is an App available for iPhone which will give UK wild bird recognition from their song. I'd like to be able to let the phone 'listen' to the song and then identify the singer. Not sure whether this is something which might be available but am sure...

    Binocular Repairs

Hi All, Just to let you know my binos came back from Viking Optics who did an absolutely marvellous job with them, very quick turn around too. They look like a new pair having been realigned and given a full overhaul and now look like a brand new pair. Thank you sooo much Viking Optics, I am...

    Binocular Repairs

Just an update on this thread. I've returned the binos to the RSPB site where I purchased them on 3rd March. They were to return them to Viking who should call me with an estimate for repair prior to going ahead with anything. They are still in the warranty period but I don't have the receipt...

    Binocular Repairs

Hi, Can anyone suggest where I could get some RSPB (WPG) 8.5 x 42 binos repaired? I've had them about 8 years now and suddenly I can't get them to focus on both sides. If I focus on one side the other is blurred. I'm near York. Thanks in anticipation of any suggestions.

    CamRanger

Hi All, Has anyone used the CamRanger to create a wifi area so you can access your camera settings from a tablet or smartphone? I wondered if anyone had used it for wildlife and whether it was successful or whether it's best to stick with a remote shutter and hope the settings are correct...

    Strange Bird - help please

Hi All, Thanks for your suggestions. I've shown pics of a Jay to the guy who saw the bird and he's pretty convinced that's what they were - he never mentioned the blue on the wings or I would have guessed Jay straight away. So he's settled on Jay. Thanks again. Eazyglider

    Strange Bird - help please

Hi Everyone, I hope someone out there with more knowledge than I could help identify a bird seen in the Pudsey area of Leeds over the weekend. They were magpie/jackdaw size with identical colours and markings to a Hoopoe but without the crest and a much shorter beak than the Hoopoe. There...

I can hear the motor run on for 3-4 seconds after I've taken my finger off the shutter button. It didn't do this before.

500mm F4L IS USM mk i USM problem

Hi All, I have the Canon 500mm F4L IS USM mk i which I bought in April 2011 so it's out of warranty now. I use this with the 1D mk iv body. I have just started to experience the USM 'running on' after it's focussed on the subject for a few seconds. It does focus OK but you can hear that...

    Photoshop CS5 curves problem

Hi Mono, No it's not just curves, seems like all the adjustments I usually had no longer work. The layer is added but then I can't do anything with it! I hope someone can cast some light on this. Thanks in anticipation. Eazyglider

    Photoshop CS5 curves problem

Hi Everyone, Wonder if anyone can help. I've been using photoshop CS5 for a year or so now but over last weekend a problem seems to have occurred in that I am unable to adjust the contrast using curves. If I add a new curves layer I don't get the grid with diagonal line to shift up or down as...

    Moths of June

Hi Everyone, I'm new to moth trapping as I only got my moth trap last week but am pleased with the results so far. After 3 nights in the garden have had poplar hawkmoth, white and buff ermine, cinnabar, silver y, beautiful golden y, female ghost swift I think (the yellow one), peppered and an...

    The Sigma 150-500 Dillema

Hi, I bought the Sigma 150-500 new for £800 and sold it within 8 months for £500 as all my pics were 'soft'. Bought the Canon 500mm F4 L IS and my pics have improved by about the same amount as our bank balance has gone down!! Choosing the cheaper Sigma zoom proved to be false economy for me...

    Badger Sett

Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this. Most of the summer I've been watching a badger sett occupied by a boar and sow and 5 cubs. They were emerging between 7.30 and 8.15 dependent upon sunset time. More recently however, I haven't seen them though the peanuts I leave are...

New to birdwatching - need a better lens!

Hi, I had the 500d with a Sigma 150-500 lens and at best got mediocre images. So sold the lens and bought a Canon 500mm F4 prime lens and got some improvement but still not great shots. I then bought a 1d mk iv body and this with the 500mm prime lens is giving much, much better results. In...

    Canon 300 F4 or 400 F5.6

Can't win then! Thanks for the advice. Thanks for your comments but I had a bad experience with a new Sigma 150-500 giving blurred images and I'm convinced it wasn't all 'user error' as I get much better results with my Canon 500 some of which may be the difference between zoom and prime. So...

Camera trap on the bird feeder

WOW, that Robin is amazin'. We have goldfinches which do something similar when all perches on the niger or sunflower heart feeders are all taken and there is no where for them to land.
