    I've heard a lot of thrushes before, and I don't think it was one - unless they have a different mating call of something at this time of year? It was quite a shouty bird, made me laugh : )

    Listening to the R4 website on realplayer, it is somewhere between a Jay and a Nuthatch, but clearer than the Jay and not as shrill as the nuthatch - however a similar call in style iyswim. It also looked between them in size as far as I recall.
