Hi all,
I found this dead Snipe the other day (hit by a car) and whilst I'm pretty sure it's a Wilson's Snipe (Gallinago delicata), I'm wondering what differentiates it from South American Snipes (Gallinago paraguaiae) (with particular reference to the black post terminal bands on the tail...
Hey all,
I'm hoping someone can help me out here.
I'm thinking of getting either a Vortex Skyline or a Nikon 50 ED. Currently i'm leaning towards the Vortex because
1) Larger Objective on Vortex (80mm) vs 50mm on Nikon
2) Wider FOV on Vortex (113ft - 55ft @ 1000 yrds) vs Nikon (84ft @1000yrds)...
Does anyone have any ideas on photographing butterflies effectively. My main problem is that there are many species that always rest with their wings closed thereby making identification near impossible without collecting/killing them.

2)I'm experimenting with...
Hi all,
This is a raptor that was seen sometime back in 2007 but was never identified. It has pinched in paddle shaped wings and its tail had several narrow bands. The shape suggests to me a kite. Also not pale patches on wing. Location was Icacos, over swamp/mangrove not far from the sea.

Hello all,
Is it worth buying a Nikon Prostaff 16-48x65 Spotting Scope for digiscoping? I know it's not ED. If anyone is using/has used it and has sample photos to post i'd be most grateful.
This bird was seen in an agricultural field in south Trinidad recently. A similar (if not the same bird) was seen last year. Initially thought it was an abberantly coloured Blue black grassquit but the white eye line and white downy feather patch on back is throwing me off. Any ideas?
I was pretty sure this was a grey/black bellied plover but there was a second browner bird in the group (second picture) which looks to me to be a american golden(due to the dark crown and underparts).
Can someone confirm the identity of these for me?
Saw this small bird in some mangroves in south west Trinidad (West Indies) in March 2008. It moves like a warbler. Note the pale wing patch. Any ideas?
Hi all,
A Glossy Ibis was found with a large metallic ring on the left leg with the code 6PW and a more standard sized ring on the right leg. Found in the Oropouche Lagoon area in Trinidad and Tobago. The bird is probably from Venezeula. Can anyone assist in tracking this bird/tag?
Thanks!
