    Knot or Dunlin, UK

Thanks Steve, I made the knot assumption based on this (borrowed) knot shot in which the bird is quite brown rather than grey and not a great difference in bill length other than maybe slightly less of a decurve.

    Knot or Dunlin, UK

Help please, Knot or Dunlin? I suspect knot as bill appears too short for dunlin, but the colouring looks a little on the brown side!

I have just noticed that the front bird looks a bit 'chin strappy' a la Canada. Is this common in Barnacles or is it hybridisation?

    Shearwater Comments

I would say sooty as bird looks browner in full blow-up of image1. The white showing near throat is confusing but could be a water splash.

    Irish Pipit

Two images of same bird seen at Gyles Quay on Cooley peninsula early last June, dark longish bill and dark legs tell me Rock Pipit a.petrosus but not sure as book images are confusing!
