This Sandhill crane stays in our Central Florida Area with great success of surviving with one leg ! Slowly hops along feeding and calling for others. Hops on one leg to take off and fly very well ! Passes through every now and then to help clean up bird feeder spillage and to say hello.
This a beautiful Robin photo !! You accomplished a great focus ! For some unknown reason we get no visits from them at our location here in central Florida. We are thinking possibly because of a heavy hawk and eagle population. Robins are not the fastest flyers.
I want folks to see how well some of our water birds camouflage themselves. You have to look close at this photo to see this species. As I fished from my kayak, he did not move or change position in a any way. I was very close to being right underneath him. These birds are listed as a species of...
This turtle has dug in on our property. He is not afraid of me, visits my gardens stealing vegetable leaves often. These turtles holes when they leave are benificial to scub jays and blue indigo snakes that may use the hole in the turtles absence. He leaves up to 2 weeks at a time and returns...
Above average heavy rains here in Florida ground wildlife unexpected. If the sun returns Ibis lay their wings out to dry. They seem almost flat to the ground when drying.
unfortunately as I am getting younger I have acquired a shake disorder. The time lapse feeding pictures of him all in ruin a camera can only do so much. Time to break down get a single post camera mount I guess.
This Egret is the same one in all 3 photos. Camera shoot of it over about a 30 min. time period until to dark out. No Florida sun this evening either which is rare. This bird was very comfortable ruling the feeding grounds pretty much to himself. He has been with us here about a week now. I do...
It was getting late. When I viewed the bird through the camera lens seeing this unusual dark looming background. I only retouched the photo for clarity. I did not reset the camera I really liked how it came out. Kind of like a Loc Nes thing ??
The White Egret freezes to stalk prey most of the time. Takes aim devours it. This egret had the whole area to himself. ( Only a young Red Heron being pesky !) There was no sun I felt as though it made a better picture today except for my unsteady light camera shake.
The Sandhill Cranes here are a couple with their youngster who is located left of the the other 2. The couple has been with us for years on and off times. They will give their youngster the boot soon. Usually when the youngsters red cap is full displayed on their head top. If they are present...
This Heron in left of photo is a medium grey. He is a yearling. Focal and exposure on this only fair. When adult he will be light grey in color with a reddish shaggy neck. The Ibis do not get along with these young herons very well. We note always the Heron does not give up and leave the pond...
