Where does SLC stand compared to others

Compared to other alphas, the SLCs hold their own and are alpha quality. :) The question is, do you want the field flattener like SF or Swarovision? If not, the SLCs are my favorite and have a larger sweet spot than the HTs in my experience.

The NEW Meopro HD line...still no thoughts?

Meopro HD 8x42 I have a pair of Meopro HD 8x42 that I bought mainly to compare... since there haven't been many reviews of the new HD models. They are very impressive at their price point. I'll more than likely stay with my Swarovski's and these will sell, new for about $700, which I figure...

Zeiss Victory FL 7x42 - opinions please

Had a couple of pairs of Zeiss 7x42 over the years. They are a great, light, large FOV pair of binos. However, they always found themselves outdone by my Swaros. If you're set only on 7x, then I would say go for it. However, for better optics, I think the SLC-HD 8x42 are some of the best...

Swarovski EL 8.5x42 review, and updated SLC 8x42 W B review

Nice write up. When it came down to keeping a pair of 8.5x42 or my 8x42 SLC-HD, I have landed with the SLC for my carry. I thought the sweet spot of the SLC was very sharp, merely missing some edge sharpness of the SV(as expected). However, my keeper SV's are a pair of 10x50. As mentioned...

EL 8x32 SV: the story continues

Exactly. The HT were nice but didn't do it for me. The new SLC was sharper with larger sweet spot. If SF's are closer to Swarovision, why leave? My 8.5 are great. +1 to Swaro for a great product.

Advice Needed: Victory HT or SF?

+1 for the 8x42 SLC HD. I found they seemed sharper and had a larger center sweet spot over the HTs. I eventually sold the HTs, when I kept going back to the SLCs.

    Swarovision EL 10x42 (Demo)

I know there is a small difference in the 8.5 and the 10x, but wow the 10x are awesome pair of glass. Free bump :)

Further thoughts on the Zeiss 8x42 HT

My SLC's are not stiff or tight by any means. Like an old Chevy truck's steering wheel, it has some play in the focus wheel. Makes for some over focusing and then adjusting back with a little more effort. However, my HTs are smooth and without play. I like the new diopter adjustment wheel...

Further thoughts on the Zeiss 8x42 HT

I have both the newer SLC HDs and HTs in 8x42. For me the Zeiss ergonomics and focusing mechanism are preferred over Swaro. I agree that Swaro may have a slight edge in clarity, or as mentioned, just a little more sweet spot. I plan to spend much more time comparing, however, the Zeiss feels...

    Help, 8x32 or 8.5x42

I don't believe you'll see a substantial difference in low light performance. The biggest difference you'll see between the two models will be size. The 8x32 much more compact... I found the 8x32 too small for my liking, so went back to 8x42 SLC and haven't second guessed the decision. The 32's...

    Vortex Razor HD 8.5x50 WOW!!!!

I got into a rut, and was no longer happy with the 13 year old pair of Steiner Nighthunters that I owned. So, I've proceed to buy and sell several pairs of binoculars over the past year. CamerlandNY had the Vortex 8.5x50 for $899 and I've read a lot about the Razor HD comparing well against...

    Nikon EDG 7561

Thanks. I like my Ultravids. Looking for a pair for the wife. Eventually, I plan on passing mine to her, and pic up a Swarovision. Appreciate the info.

    Nikon EDG 7561

I have a Leica Ultravid HD 8x42. Optically, either Nikon version will be close? Also, gander Mountain has been selling them for $1400. Is that a good/fair price for the EDG I version? I keep seeing EDG II in the $2000+ range. I'm looking for a second pair of binos. The price has me...

    Nikon EDG 7561

I think the Nikon EDG 8x42 model #7561 are the previous model replaced by EDG #7566. Can anyone tell me the difference in performance? How about prices? I've seen some of the 7561 models selling for $1100-2000. That seems a wide gap. Just curious if I'm missing something. Thanks
