    Where To Sell Binoculars

I was under the impression that there was a section in the Bird Forums for selling binoculars, but I am not finding it. Can anyone help as to the location here, or other places to sell. Note that I am fully aware of eBay and would use it as a last resort. I have an unused pair of Nikon 8x32 SE...

    Special SE Eyecups

I live in a third world country where nothing is available and services are limited. My chances of finding a machinist of that caliber and the materials he would require are nil. A 3D print job in rubberized plastic could be ordered online from anywhere , and sent anywhere in the world, for...

    Special SE Eyecups

I had not thought of the possibility of adjusting a pair or eyeglasses to sit further from the eye for use with the SE eye cups folded down. I actually have spare eyeglasses in my prescription that were abandoned for no other reason than style. One of them could be used. Thank you very much for...

    Special SE Eyecups

The blackouts that I am experiencing are caused by eye distance from the lens. I have no problem using the SE with cups folded out, and my eyeglasses not in use. Likewise, I can correct the problem by bracing the SE at the correct distance from my eyeglasses using my fingers and thumbs as...

    Special SE Eyecups

After reading somewhere how bicycle inner tube rings were inserted underneath the partially folded Nikon SE eye cups in order to create a cup depth that was compatible with eyeglass wearers to combat the blackout problem, I started to fiddle with the eyecups without using the inner tube rings...

Determining Model Number of Vintage B&L 7x26

After reading Optic Nut's post above, I did find an eBay seller who fabricated eyecups, however ofter reading the details on his page it appears that he casts them from hard plastic, and that they would not be foldable. To make sure I think he would have to be contacted to clarify exactly what...

Determining Model Number of Vintage B&L 7x26

Mike, If you had a pair of these purchased in 1992 and the eyecups had been rolled down and untreated for 23 years, what would you do: 1. Leave them rolled down permanently and treat the outsides periodically with protectant 2. Roll them up and leave them up, and treat periodically (note that I...

Determining Model Number of Vintage B&L 7x26

Hello Mike V. I have read through the link you provided in your post, above. I found the model number where you said it was, "on the housing of the left eyepiece". Now it is absolutely confirmed that I have the 61-7261 model. Thanks for the detailed write up on these. I called Bushnell today...

Determining Model Number of Vintage B&L 7x26

Alexis, thank you for your opinion on what my model number is. My research pointed toward that serial number also, but I was not 100% sure.

Determining Model Number of Vintage B&L 7x26

I found the number AA0723 stamped on the front of the hinge after "Japan". I am assuming that it is the serial number. Yes, there are model numbers associated with Custom Compacts and they are 6 digit numbers, with a dash, following this format: xx-xxxx.

Determining Model Number of Vintage B&L 7x26

I have a pair of metal-bodied Bausch and Lomb 7x26 Custom Compact Binoculars that were purchased new on 2/14/1992, with green-coated lenses, serial number AA0723, and marked National Audubon Society. Does anyone know what model number these would be? Were these the last metal-bodied ones produced?

    Useful Nikon 8x32 SE Information

I had actually found that Duluth Pack Shell Bag the other day when googling. It is close to my idea of a good bag, but the dimensions and shape are a little off. Nevertheless, I have put it on my list of bags to consider.

    Useful Nikon 8x32 SE Information

RJM, Please allow my to clarify how the the Nikon SE Case is not working for me: 1. The ribbing on the upper edge of my Nikon SE case is in tatters after only having the case for 2 months. It looks terrible, as if the case is now 25 years old. 2. The case should have a detachable strap. (yes...

    Useful Nikon 8x32 SE Information

I would agree that the 50mm Eagle Optic Vortex Case might be an acceptable option. I had reviewed it previously. Since not much else is available, I just might try one out. The price is right on. Someone I was talking to mentioned that the Nikon Action Extreme 7x35 Case was better than the...

    Useful Nikon 8x32 SE Information

The Lowepro Bag is both unavailable from Amazon, and also unavailable from Lowpro themselves. I had seen the bag previously and had considered it, regardless of incorrect size and format, but had abandoned the idea when I found it to be unavailable at any known and trusted dealers including B&H.

    Useful Nikon 8x32 SE Information

To further clarify: I am looking for a soft case, similar in shape to the original, of the correct dimensions, without being too large or small. I do not carry the case when in the field, but if Nikon's case had been well thought out, one could easily carry it in the field if desired (if it had...

    Useful Nikon 8x32 SE Information

In an attempt to direct discussion to useful information concerning the Nikon 8x32 SE, has anyone found the ideal case for this binocular? I have googled for an hour, seached this forum and others back 5 years, viewed B&H, Eagle Optics, Adorama, Optics Planet, etc, etc, etc. It would seem that a...

    Premier SE and EII availability!

Thanks to all the posters with reassuring words. I would say at this time that I am 100% satisfied with my new Nikon 8x32 SE Binoculars, regardless of what may have been written in the past about real or perceived differences in the viewing qualities of various serial numbered series. I...

    Premier SE and EII availability!

I fianally received my Nikon 8x32 SE, as discussed above, shipped to Mexico. They got hung up in Mexican Customs for about a month which really worried me, but finally they have arrived as of a few days ago. I just noticed today that the serial number is a 505xxx type. I just looked it up on a...

    Premier SE and EII availability!

I'd like to add that Mike Freiberg did get back to me today with the contact information. I am happy to report that I got the binoculars I wanted for a very good price. Other than a small hitch with getting the store to ship internationally, the order went well and is supposed to ship tomorrow.

Spoiled by the SE view...now what?

Congratulations on your excellent and interesting blog! I cannot hold anything over 7X steady. I have just ordered the 8x32 SE, but 8X is as high as I will go. For 10X and above, I like image stabilized binoculars. However, if my hands were more steady, I would not hesitate to own the 10x42...
