    Coastal Japan-black masked small bird

    About the size of a bulbul. Prominent black mask. Seen at Shimoda, on the Izu peninsula of Japan, about 100 yards inland from the beach. thoughts? sorry I couldn't get any closer.

    I'm pretty sure this is a snow goose, I mean, that's an easy one, right? my confusion comes from the fact that this was taken at Lake Tanukiko in Japan (near Mt Fuji), which my guidebook says is rather outside their typical range. thanks in advance.

    Having trouble id'ing this one--Japan

    Saw 3 or 4 of these swimming in Lake Kawaguchi, Japan (near Mt Fuji). They were swimming alongside some mallards, eastern spot-billed ducks, and tufted ducks. About the same size as all of the above. Sharp, pointed white bill with a white shield over the face, red eye, black head, grey body...
