Thank you both very much; taken from the car with a Canon 40D and a 15-85mm lens at 85 so technically not wide angle. Gayle

Soria, Spain please help with identity

Two of these birds were perched on the ground by a cornfield, we only had the wide angle lens with us, hence poor quality. Many thanks

Unwelcome raptor - October, Sotogrande, Spain

This is a very hurried and poor quality snapshot; the starlings are out in force to evict a bird of prey. First thoughts were a kite, but the tail is not forked and would the starlings mob a kite? Can anyone offer any suggestions? G

    Loch Of The Lowes 2012

Mr & Mrs No Ring and family I am praying that this is one of the family returning; we have been there for the last three years in Spring, but unfortunately can't be there this year. There was passing interest in the unused nest last season - so hopeful for another pair at Bassenthwaite. G

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Agree, sunflower hearts are a magnet for all my garden birds, especially the Goldfinches, we have at least 10 pairs. The Siskins will take the niger seed if the hearts run out.

    Raptor Southern Spain

Hi Had thought this was a booted eagle, but the photo was taken over Salobrena on 30th October. In view of the fact booted eagles migrate, is it just a late one or something else? So pleased I joined this forum - thanks. G

    Central Spain Vulture?

Hello again We found ourselves on a very quiet road in mid-Spain and came across at least 10 of these. We had never seen a bird with a wingspan that size, it did look like a flying barn door. Some were resting still on the ground and others were soaring. We are almost sure it is a Black...
