Coopers or Sharp shinned? Deerfield Beach, FL

So the best clue would be the skinnier legs? I also read somewhere that sharp-shinned hawks aren't often seen on telephone/light poles...I see a lot of em', just don't know how to tell the difference yet

Coopers or Sharp shinned? Deerfield Beach, FL

I lean to Coopers, they are common around my neighborhood but I just can't be certain...how do I know i'm not seeing some Sharp-shinned hawks every once in awhile? He had just nailed a starling and was being mobbed by mockingbirds, blue jays, and boat-tailed grackles...the sun was setting, this...

Which fish species attracting Streaked Shearwater?

I don't know about amberjack, I've been catching those reef donkey's for decades and the photo doesn't make me think of one. But I agree it seems as if its not likely a pompano dolphin either... I have a friend in NOAA who is an fish-o-phile, he will know...

Which fish species attracting Streaked Shearwater?

I'd second this, definitely not a member of the jack family. The tail is similar to a trevally but the body shape is too long. I'd go with pompano Dolphin. And as for the second pic it is most likely a bonito, skipjack, little tunny, or another small member of the Tuna family.

A mess of shorebirds - SW FL - 10 thousand islands

just got back from 6 days of kayaking from Marco Island to Everglades City, saw a good number of birds, including a common loon in West Bay pass during slack tide...I'm new to this so the shorebirds still confuse me, I know the semi-palmated pipers, sanderlings, and ruddy turnstones...but what...

    Warbler ID (Dry Tortugas, USA)

This is my first post on this forum, I'm new to birding in general so I'm sure I'll be asking for ID often...there always seems to be few a I can't figure out. Just got back from 4 days in the Dry Tortugas, it was a fish and dive trip but I did get a little time to stalk about Fort Jefferson...
