Surprised there hasn't been any responses yet. I haven't ever looked through the Theron, but it IS the binocular I recommend to anyone looking for best bang for buck under $500. A good birding friend of mine has the 8x42 and loves it especially the optical performance.
I use Tract Toric...
They are practically identical to the Zen-Ray EDII 7x36, which I previously owned. However I feel the brightness and clarity of the view between Sightmark Solitude 7x36 XD and ZR EDII go to the ZR. Yet the focus wheel and durability goes to the Sightmark. The Sightmark is definitely worth a...
Much cheaper 7x option (not 42mm), but still a good bino IMO is Sightmark Solitude 7x36 XD. I purchased one a few years after selling my Zen-ray 7x36. I missed the huge field of view. It's my go to for tight space birding such as in dense growth. Other than that 7x for me is not enough...
If it were me I would get the Tract Toric. However, I'm bias because I own one and LOVE it.

I'm probably the only one that does this, but when I am doing serious birding I carry a 7x and a 10x around my neck. I use the 7x if the bird is close in dense cover and the 10x if it's farther away. 7x wider FOV and easier to get glass on the bird. But too week to ID small birds at a longer...
Tract Toric 8x42. They are running a good sale on them right now. $75 off the bundle. You will not beat them for the money. I have the 10x42 and they will be the last 10x binos I will ever own.
Check out the other threads about them. Not only is the product great but the company employees...
I have had both the Bushnell Legend M 10x42 and the Vanguard Endeavor ED II 10x42. I have also had Zen-Ray ED and EDIII 10x42. I have gotten rid of all of them due to various reasons. My current 10x (which I will never part from like the others) is Tract Toric 10x42. I love it that much...
That is good to know for anyone out of the USA. I think you should post about your 8x42s. I would be interested in reading and am sure others would too especially because of the high performance but lower cost of the Toric.
Here is a link to the Tract Toric 8x42 thread...
They are not a cheapo bin by any means, but they are an amazing bang for the buck as they compare with alpha performance as you mentioned. I have read some peoples opinion on 24hourcampfire rating these better than binos costing over $1000. With that perspective they are priced extremely well...
I'v had the Toric 10x42 for about 2 weeks now. Let me just say, I have ZERO plans to ever get another 10x42. My prior 10x42s were Zen ED and EDIII which, I really liked, but the Toric are in a completely different class, which is what I expected.
Here are a few quick thoughts and comments...
Forgot to mention. I live in Pinellas county and am familiar with FDP as well as many other locations here. If you ever want some help out in the field let send me a Private Message and I can get you my contact #
Hello Serena,
It is difficult to tell by the photos, but I will give you my opinion.
The 3 best field marks I like to use to distinguish between Northern and Louisiana are the bill size, supercilium, and throat.
In Louisiana: Bill is longer and heavier, supercilium is broader behind eye and...

Considering getting another ZR EDII 7x36. Use to have one but sold it. I loved it for close range birding. I am familiar with all the recent customer service complaints.
I like the topic Chuck! Migration is an...
