Viking Binos - prism alignment build quality.

I have owned a pair of 8x36 ED RSPB (Viking) binoculars since 2018. In January, I accidentally bumped them very lightly against the car boot sill, which caused the left lens collimation to be knocked out of alignment. I sent them to Viking for repair and received them back in mid-March. Since...

    Leica 8 x 32 BN - Objective Lens Caps

Thanks to Chartwell99's recommendation I am now the proud owner of the Swarovski tethered objective covers for the Swaro SLC 8 x 30 bins. They do indeed fit the 8 x 32BNs perfectly. :t: Got them from South West Optics at a very reasonable £6.85 for the pair. See...

    Leica 8 x 32 BN - Objective Lens Caps

Thanks for the reply. I will price them up in the UK. Either way cheaper than damaged optics I guess.

    Leica 8 x 32 BN - Objective Lens Caps

Does anyone know of anywhere in the UK which would stock these or similar as Eagle Optics don't ship to the UK and I'm in need of some protection for my bins? http://www.eagleoptics.com/index.asp?pid=3185 Cheers for your anticipated help!

    Birding In Staffordshire

Well spotted Andy. Sharp birder and lyricist too. Indeed my sig' does contain lines from Marillion's Misplaced Childhood LP (remember those?) I have seen Marillion/ Fish several times and in 2005 Fish played the Limelight in Crewe as part of his Return to Childhood tour. The lines some how...

    Experiences with Haiths

I have used them in the past and had no problems. Items left at rear of house when no one home. Now use a local animal feed merchant (HJ Oakes at Wheelock nr Sandbach, Cheshire) for my supplies. They operate their own mill and are a large cattle feed supplier. Though they don't deliver (bird...

    8X32 models

I was just mooching around the forum and came across this thread belatedly. Just wondered what Bunny did/ bought in the end? I've owned a pair of the Leica Trinovid 8x32 BN for a couple of years now and still think they're amazing to my eyes - but I acknowledge each is to their own. I agree with...

    Marbury Country Park

I visited Marbury between noon and 3pm yesterday (1/1/07) in an effort to walk off those Xmas pounds and to try and make more of a birding effort this year. I was accompanied by my In-Laws, and despite an abundance of dog walkers and young families we managed to see: Great Crested Grebe...

    Warehouse express, good or bad?

I've used them a couple of times and would happily use again. Excellent service. If you're after an expensive item use their buy now pay in nine months scheme. It means you can bank your money in a high interest account for a few months, then settle the account, leaving a few beer tokens for...

How do you carry your scope/tripod around?

I too keep my scope in an ER case - but don't feel that I want to have the weight of the tripod/ scope combination pulling on that strap - plus I'm concerned from reading other postings about the strain which can be put on the scope mount itself - especially as the 055 tripod is far heavier than...

How do you carry your scope/tripod around?

Folks May I just pose another question about the art of tripods, scopes and straps? I have a Leica 62 on a 128RC head and Manfrotto 055 pod. I bought an Optech tripod strap but just can't obtain a perfect carrying / instant use set up. I have attached one end of the strap around the centre...

Hotels near to S'ALBUFERA DE MALLORCA, Alcudia

Agree with Steve G above re hire a car and then get out around the island. We stayed in C'an Pickafort in 2002. Having a car meant that Father in Law and I could get around birdwatching whilst also sightseeing to appease our respective better halves who despite our best efforts just didn't...

Have you tried Jessops? Found these 62mm caps listed on their website. Worth a look just in case they will fit - maybe cheaper than Leica too! Jessops also list lens cap retainers. JESCLC62 JESSOPS CLIP LENS CAP 62mm £3.79 HOYCLC62 HOYA CLIP ON LENS CAP 62mm £3.99 Good luck!

    Wobbling Manfrotto

Thanks Andy & rezMole. I was just looking for some clarity that I was curing the wobble in the correct manner. Realised that the safety pin prevented any accidental detachment of my scope but aesthetically it didn't look right. I'm now happy that the set up is as it should be. Thanks again Guys!

    Wobbling Manfrotto

Could someone just clarify for me about using a 128RC head set up for left handed panning - are folks saying the quick release plate needs fastening to my scope with the lens direction arrows pointing backwards towards the eyepiece end of my scope? When my head was set up, the plates direction...

    Hello from Cheshire

I read about this site in this months Birdwatching magazine and thought I'd give it a go! Have spent a couple of hours getting used to navigating around it and all I can say is WOW! I'm new to birding having wondered what's that bird called that I can hear / see? Always liked nature and now...
