NL Pure Image Flatness - Good or Bad?

Five pairs of binoculars lol, so cute 🙏✌🏼 I feel the 10x42NL is not only the sweet spot in the NL lineup , but the sweet spot of all 10x42 bins. Absolutely amazing binoculars in every area. Although my all time all around favorite is the 8x42 Noctivids. But when it comes to a 10x, I go NL...

NL Pure Image Flatness - Good or Bad?

That was the other reason given by another rep, they would be less expensive to manufacture with shorter focus so as to be able to lower price and keep EL as a choice. Not sure how a shorter focus distance is less expensive to manufacture though. Paul

NL Pure Image Flatness - Good or Bad?

Your considering buying the best and most expensive binoculars on the planet (excluding WX). Narrow your choice down to the two you think you want the most and bite the bullet and order them. Try them out , choose what you like, and return the other. You pay the costs for shipping, sometimes you...

NL Pure Image Flatness - Good or Bad?

Yeah that was one of the reasons one rep gave me that they couldn’t have the new NL having a shorter short focus than the EL. I wouldn’t say they are much better , just a slight Evolution, wider field of view , better panning qualities and some say better ergonomics. I’ve had both EL‘s Side by...

NL Pure Image Flatness - Good or Bad?

Yes , NL flatness is similar to the SF and EL, yet not quite flat all the way to the edge like the EL.

NL Pure Image Flatness - Good or Bad?

Considering how good all three are ( there’s also the Ultravid line) I wouldn’t decide my purchase on one rep opinion at a dealer. They’re all the best of the best and have their pros and cons. It’s up to you to decide which one will fit you the best. All three are crazy good. I have all of the...

NL Pure Image Flatness - Good or Bad?

They definitely had their reasons according to a few representative I spoke to, but in any event the optical quality and everything else is the same , except the price. I wonder if people had the choice to buy either one, would they give up the the 2.5 feet or the $500 🤔 That what’s it’s all...

NL Pure Image Flatness - Good or Bad?

EL 42’s haven’t been discontinued. Still available, still one of the best optics of any Binocular on the market. Only thing changed is they increased the short focus a few feet, oh and reduced the price $500. How dare they lower the price 😜

NL Pure Image Flatness - Good or Bad?

Both are phenomenal choices, but of course can’t be had in 12x. I would never discourage anybody from choosing the Noctivids which are probably my favorite Binoculars of all time. That being said if you’re still looking for a 12 X , there’s the EL 12x50 probably one of the best if not the best...

NL Pure Image Flatness - Good or Bad?

I couldn’t get the link right so I’ll post a picture of my less than Scientific test back from September. This was done with four observers at a local coastguard station. Three observers were knowledgeable with optics, the fourth was just a drunk guy who wouldn’t go away , so we let him...

NL Pure Image Flatness - Good or Bad?

I think your mixing up or confusing the difference of DOF and the 3D effect. The porro prism ,like in this example with the Swift Audubon’s have wider separation of the optical train, if I’m describing that accurately. This gives the porros a very three dimensional feel. It’s even more...

NL Pure Image Flatness - Good or Bad?

Will, another thing I’d like to ad , is that if one is sensitive to globe effect then the NL flat field would fall into the bad category. Swaro did improve on that a bit from the worse EL line. But as someone hear more in the know than I has opined that it is not necessarily a product of the...

NL Pure Image Flatness - Good or Bad?

cold, stark and flat ,you’d feel the EL’s more so 🤣. I understand though. Some are more sensitive to the more bluer color hue to the EL and NL. lots of reasons there, warmer image, seems to be easier on the eyes (imo) during very bright conditions, and very saturated color pop. There is no...

NL Pure Image Flatness - Good or Bad?

Forgive me , I had no intention to hijack the OP discussion, but this is very interesting when some want to look into it further. There is multiple discussions on this. Here is an interesting conversation from a while back on CN with some prominent BF members discussing the topic. "BEST OF"...

NL Pure Image Flatness - Good or Bad?

Unless I’m missing something I’m not seeing a difference in DOF between the Audubons than any other binoculars with the same magnification. If I was comparing the Swift 8.5x to a 10x anything then I do see a difference. I found this in short form, from CN. Depth of field is determined primarily...

NL Pure Image Flatness - Good or Bad?

You didn’t say what the Nocs were, but in any event wed be comparing a Leica 8x or 10x bin without a field flattener with a curved field to a 12x with a field flattener. So as we both know , two different birds (you like that, two different birds, birdforum 🤣 ) so the image will always be...
