YF II 8x30 - made in China or Philippines now?

I doubt that. Unless you have any reliable sources that explain in detail how "Made in Philippines" is legally defined. Differences between countries can be huge. I know for a fact (because there exists an official statement on the matter from the mfr.), that most cheaper Seiko watches with...

Product Review: The Sky Rover Banner Cloud 8 x 42 Binocular

Anyone still remember those awesome Svbony SV202s? Yup, me neither. Oh, wait, I got two -- they're collecting dust in one of my bino-storage crates under the sofa.

    10x42 MeoPro Air HDED vs 10x42HD Meostar B1 Plus - it's on!

The Air does have flourite lense elements as does even the older cheaper Meopro HD and the newer Meopro HD Plus. At least according to Meopta's own catalog. https://www.meoptasportsoptics.de/files/EN_2024.pdf

    10x42 MeoPro Air HDED vs 10x42HD Meostar B1 Plus - it's on!

Haven't noticed any color tint in my Meopro Air 8x42 and also no rolling ball. Eye placement is a bit fiddly though because the eyecups should be a bit longer in the 8x42 Air. They work just fine with my glasses though. Pincushion distortion is actually visible -- obviously enough for my eyes to...

YF II 8x30 - made in China or Philippines now?

That's actually an interesting question. I always wanted one of these but somehow never bought one so far despite the low price. But if they switched production (back) to China, I'm passing on that one.

    8x32 Dilemma?

The 8x32 has much less fall off at the edges compared to the 6.5x32. And it's only apparent if you roll your eyes around in the FoV. But it also depends on your age. My eyes often don't even see the field curvature that others complain about in the same model. As always, try before you buy does...

    8x32 Dilemma?

I have the Kowa BDII 6.5x32 but also looked through the 8x32 at length when I decided which one to buy. The 6.5x32 works pretty well with by glasses. I didn't try the 8x32 with glasses though. The 8x32 has sharper edges and a larger AFoV. It was pretty impressive actually but I still went with...

What did you see in your binoculars today?

A skylark singing over a field and a deer about 200 m away were the nicest views of a small walk I took with the wife today. She spotted the deer. I noticed a second one just at the edge of the woods covered by some bushes through my Meopta.

Most immersive view possible through your glasses?

The debate never revolved around the optical performance but around the question whether one should buy binos from China at all, whether they are reverse-engineered and possibly breaking patents (so far I saw no one clarifying that), that they are still a copycat product even if they don't break...

    New Binocular Bargains Thread

@tenex There is no socialist country in Europe since the end of the cold war. And fun fact - tax load between Germany and the US is about the same. I did the maths. There's a ton of misconceptions out there about the differences between the US and Europe. Many of these differences don't actually...

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

Thanks :). That's actually just the translation of the German word for it, "Doppelbrücke", double bridge but it could also be called open bridge.

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

My current favourite - the Meopta Meopro Air HD 8x42 which was on sale by German seller "Frankonia", a well known hunting goods store here in Germany. Price was just too good as eBay added a 50€ coupon on top which brought the price lower than many of the (most likely) Kamakura-models sold by...

    The IS binocular smaller?

No. But I think they are probably the smallest IS-bino. Unfortunately no Nikon-vendor sells them in Europe, I think.

Brief comparisons between Skyrover Banner Cloud VS Swarovski NL Pure

How would I know? I never looked through either. But if one has rolling ball and the other doesn't, one has a color tint and the other doesn't, one has more CA and the other has less, one has a net of European/American vendors and the other doesn't, one is made in a country that is notoriously...

Brief comparisons between Skyrover Banner Cloud VS Swarovski NL Pure

Interesting review. Thanks! Just some thoughts - rolling ball effect is caused by too little pincushion distortion. Therefore, pincushion is better controlled in the NL not the BC. Because if the BC has noticeable rolling ball effect, they didn't give it enough pincushion distortion to prevent...

    New Binocular Bargains Thread

@dries1 That's reassuring because I read every review on that bino that I could find :D and some where a bit mixed. But Piergiovanni also seemed to like it in his binomania.it review. Looking forward to getting it. I'll let you know how I like it :).

Product Review: The Sky Rover Banner Cloud 8 x 42 Binocular

Do you really have to ask? It's not a big secret that Chinese companies are world champions in copying stuff (and other countries before them did the same - the whole Swiss watch industry started by copying British and French watches; not too long ago, Japan copied tons of Western products...

    New Binocular Bargains Thread

Ah, darn, just couldn't resist and ordered one. Always wanted to have a look through one of these. Price was just too good. If it can't best my Fuji HC I still got 14 day money back guarantee.

Kowa BD II HD 10x42 & Vortex Viper 10x42

Interesting -- the Kowa BDII 6.5x32 I own has a very smooth focuser. I think the 6.5x32 is probably also the most interesting model of the BDII-line.

    New Binocular Bargains Thread

The Meopta Meopro Air HD in 8x42 is currently on sale on German ebay for 530€. I even got offered a coupon which would bring the price to 480€. I am severely tempted since I like the double bridge design but I wonder if it will be all that different (or better) than my Fuji HC 8x42.
