    Advice for first (high-end) binoculars : Safari & Birding

    My choice for what you describe would be a pair of Nikon 8x30 Monarch HG. I agree 42mm is too big & heavy for serious hikes. I find 25mm binoculars too small, and most 32mm too expensive for the size and bulky. The Swarovski 8x30 and Zeiss SFL 8x30 are similar, I would prefer the Nikons...
