Tamron 2nd generation SP 150-600mm Di VC USD 'G2'

I would say more than a little :smoke:

Tamron 2nd generation SP 150-600mm Di VC USD 'G2'

On paper, looks like they have addressed all the issues the first generation had Very promising! And the lens looks beatiful

    New Sigma 150/600 contemporary

Come on.... You can have your opinion about Isaac and say anything about it, but the photos he shares with us are the best. I dare say, the best I've seen with either Sigmas anywhere

    New Sigma 150/600 contemporary

I agreed that portrait photos of birds that look like an ID Card picture are less pleasing than photos showing some of the surrounding habitat

    Sigma 150-600 sport v Contempory

And also looks better than Canon's 100-400 II + tc 1.4x at centre frame (mid-frame looks the same to me)

    Eagle owls in Monfrague

I would be very interested to know where the Eagle Owl near Trujillo is located. I'll be visiting the region in the first 2 weeks of June I've been trying to see that bird for years with no success :)

    New Sigma 150/600

Isaac is right. You should have a backup support. I use the tether kit from blackrapid http://www.blackrapid.com/products/tether-kit

    New Sigma 150/600 contemporary

It looks great to me and with a 16mpx full frame Camera, which kind of contradicts what Roy has been saying

    New Sigma 150/600 contemporary

Maybe AF speed could be tweaked with the dock?

    New Sigma 150/600 contemporary

http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1357161 the best I've seen so far. And look really really good imo

    New Sigma 150/600

The ones taken with the 1D look sharper to my eyes

    New Sigma 150/600

And canon vs tamron 560mm vs 600mm @ f8 http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/ISO-12233-Sample-Crops.aspx?Lens=972&Camera=453&Sample=0&FLI=5&API=2&LensComp=929&CameraComp=453&SampleComp=0&FLIComp=5&APIComp=2 Tamron looks better in center. Hmm

    7D11 vs 5D3 and 1DX

What I mean is: From Canon Europe "Smaller pixels are more sensitive to camera shake, as a smaller movement will cause the image to move across more pixels. You need to hold the camera steadier - ideally on a tripod. For the same reason, sports photographers also need to re-think their...

    7D11 vs 5D3 and 1DX

If it was as simple as a matter of cropping vs resulting megapixels then crop would always win. But it is not. Camera shake will be more of a problem with a crop camera and even more so when the subject is not well-lit. The loss of light plus higher iso noise will make one use lower shutter...

    New 100-400

The question is: will it be sharper and AF faster with a tc than the Sigma or the Tamron?

    New Sigma 150/600

What about the weight? What was the first impact? Easily hand-holdable?
  17. MiguelM

    New Sigma 150/600

The difference wide-open is notorious (in favour of the sigma). I also like the bokeh. Only problem is the weight. I like to walk around and I don't like to take a tripod with me unless if I'm going to stay in a hide or to a cliff for sea birds.. I wonder if I can carry it for a few hours...

Worth it to have a Full Frame camera?

It seems to be a mistake "After we reported that Amazon UK was listing the Canon EOS 6D as discontinued (see pic above), Amateur Photographer asked Canon what it was about. A spokesman of Canon UK answered that “they got it wrong”. It seems Amazon UK is just planning to no longer sell the EOS 6D...

Worth it to have a Full Frame camera?

I can see more detail on the full frame ones, especially on the metal chain

Worth it to have a Full Frame camera?

Although not scientific or lab-quality, interesting comparison by Arthur Morris here: http://www.birdsasart-blog.com/2014/10/29/23693/ "If the premise that the images from the 3 camera bodies cropped to the same subject size would be easily distinguishable with the 5D III image showing the best...

Tamron SP 150-600mm F5-6.3 DI IF VC USD

From what I've seen here, the photos taken with the Tamron by Hosesbroadbill and Micoli are much better (sharper and with more contrast) than everything I've seen here that was taken with 400mm f.6 plus tc 1.4x
  22. MiguelM

Tamron SP 150-600mm F5-6.3 DI IF VC USD

In these photos it clearly shows the difference between f/6.3 and f/9

Fuji shows 140-400mm zoom at Photokina

If this 140-400mm turns out to be a good lens, who knows? http://danbaileyphoto.com/blog/the-fuji-x-t1-af-tracking-performance-how-good-is-it/ AF in the X-T1 is very good...

    New 100-400

I've read that Canon's 100-400 is not really 400 either...
  25. MiguelM

    New 100-400

With offerings from Tamron and Sigma that reach 600mm, 100-400mm seems rather insufficient now
