    Bird of Prey - Fife

Seen today. Have it down as Peregrine, but orange peach wash in trouser area not quite right, although not quite Hobby either. It has been suggested to me that colouration may be due to blood staining from prey?

    Tayforth Birding

I don't do much twitching these days, preferring to stick to my patches, with the odd planned trip away. But this is a bird that I have wanted to see for a long time, so when one popped up in central Fife yesterday, I could not resist taking the half hour trip to see if it was still there this...

    Hybrid Duck, Fife

Back in May I found a hybrid Tufted x female Pochard in central Fife. https://www.birdforum.net/threads/scaup-type-letham-fife.456689/ This morning I visited a local water, where a Lesser Scaup has been reported. I took some very distant photos, but would like to confirm whether this is a...

    Tayforth Birding

I took a walk around the Loch Leven Heritage trail this morning. Main species targeted was Garden Warbler, although I heard one at a regular spot in Fife yesterday. Managed to see at least two with another couple heard. In general, there seemed to be a lack of birds around the loch, and...

    Small Wader, Fife

I've been back to the location, and with better light, I've taken a few more shots of the bird. I am now thinking Pectoral Sandpiper, as has been suggested previously. Managed to get some other birds (Lapwing/Pied Wag) in shot as size comparison, but had not realised there was not that much...

    Small Wader, Fife

Another photo of subject bird. Not sure it gives anymore. I'm heading back there with scope.

    Small Wader, Fife

That is what I thought initially, but I thought it was too small. Thinking about it now, it was at distance, and I had nothing close to it to give size comparison.

    Small Wader, Fife

    It was the right size

    Small Wader, Fife

Seen this morning at inland water/marsh. Apologies for the photo quality - Weather was awful and deteriorating. Bird at distance.

    Angus Glen Insect - Scotland

Thanks. That looks to be spot on.

Seen on Saturday in an Angus Glen.

    Radio tagged White-tailed Eagle

Thanks @jenks86 I have already done that, but then noticed that he is only looking for reports from England and Wales. He may have some info though. I'll post anything that is not sensitive if I get anything back.

    Birds fae Torry

Whitethroat seemed very late here in Fife too.

    Radio tagged White-tailed Eagle

I saw this eagle this morning in an Angus glen. It looks to be radio tagged. I am wondering if there is any way of tracing its history/origins?

    Angus Hills and Glens

I had a really good day in an Angus glen today. Briefly thought I had found my first ever Golden Eagle, but realised pretty quickly that it was a White-tailed Eagle. That was even further confirmed when it snatched a fish out of the loch in front of me. At least three juvenile Ring Ouzel seen...

Bird on a wire - Angus Glen

Not what I was hoping for. Never mind, I did get White-tailed Eagle on the loch we have visited before, so still a good day.

Bird on a wire - Angus Glen

Taken today at distance. Hoping it is what I think it is.

    North Sea Thread

I am currently on the platform that I have been making occasional visits to over the last year or so. About half an hour or so ago, I spotted a bird flying in towards the structure just above sea level. I managed to grab a pair of binoculars from the control room, and was able to confirm a...

Ahhh, the light dawns. A hybrid. I've already been mugged by a hybrid duck in Fife this month, so I really should have considered that.(y)

Yellow Wagtail type - North Sea

The photographed bird is under discussion in thread on the Scottish pages. https://www.birdforum.net/threads/north-sea-thread.328422/page-48#post-4644967 Just expanding it to these ID pages to get wider comment. Further photos attached (from Saturday on platform 117m NE of Aberdeen). Grey...

    North Sea Thread

As promised, I've managed to access a few more photos. I have also been reading up on Yellow Wagtail types, and I agree with the more informed who have commented, that grey headed seems the most likely. My only concern is that the photos do show a supercilium, that I am reading should not appear...

    North Sea Thread

Just been sent these photos, taken yesterday, by a friend on neighbouring platform. Think I'm safe with male Red-backed Shrike.

    North Sea Thread

I have a few more photos, but will not be able to put them up till Monday, as I'm between platforms at the moment. I have no experience with this species, so blue headed may have been an inexperienced assumption.
